Demand of Rice Bran Oil in the Food and Cosmetics Industry to Exhibit Strong Growth With its ratios of saturated, mono-saturated and poly-unsaturated fats closest to the ideal ratios recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA) and WHO, rice bran oil represents one of the healthiest oils.
Rice bran oil is an edible vegetable oil that is extracted from the outer brown layer of rice known as rice bran containing 15-20% oil by weight. In addition to these properties, rice bran oil offers delicate flavors, excellent texture profiles while cooking and can also be blended with other less stable oils to improve their performance. Rice bran oil is gaining popularity not only in food and nutritional supplements, but also as a specialty ingredient in cosmetics and personal care products. Various studies have shown that rice bran oil has beneficial properties for skin and hair. For instance, rice bran oil can be beneficial to treat itching of skin and used as an anti-dandruff agent in the production of cosmetics.
