5th & 6th MARINe Electrical Ini4a4VE (MARINELIVE) Interna4onal Workshop on Ship Electric Grids and Power Management Systems

Data Acquisition / Network (2)

•  The Black Box devices have ethernet ports (wired communication) •  Converted to wireless using wifi-router •  (the notebook computer connects wirelessly to the router, the black boxes are connected with ethernet cables)

5th & 6th MARINe Electrical Ini4a4VE (MARINELIVE) Interna4onal Workshop on Ship Electric Grids and Power Management Systems

Data Acquisition / Network (3) •  A completely wireless solution was also developed, using micro-wifi routers (acting as wireless clients) •  USB powered, 5x5cm footprint, can be powered by the Black Box (since it has a usb port) •  Hybrid wired-wireless topologies can be used

5th & 6th MARINe Electrical Ini4a4VE (MARINELIVE) Interna4onal Workshop on Ship Electric Grids and Power Management Systems

Data Acquisition / Communications Software - Protocols •  Realtime monitoring and configuration / administration via HTTP (web browser) •  Acquisition of data using PQSCADA software (acquires stored data using FTP) •  (The unit can run autonomously for more than 1 week, 8gb internal storage) •  Data analysis using Elspec Investigator software •  A small netbook was used for data acquisition / monitoring, wirelessly connected to the router (smaller space footprint / no communication cables) •  Time synchronization using SNTP protocol (the acquisition computer is used as a time server)
