Seba’s Short-tailed Bats are small bats that have brown fur all over their bodies apart from their wings, which are bare brown skin.

Distribution:

Like most bats they like to live in large groups sometimes consisting of up to 1000 individuals.

These bats come from South America more specifically the countries of Mexico, Paraguay and Brazil where they inhabit tropical forest.

Height: Approx. 60mm

Weight: Approx. 20g

Diet: Herbivorous

Bats have a bad reputation for carrying disease and sucking blood. Although there are species of bat that are carnivorous these bats are harmless herbivores as they only eat fruit. Males and females will mate and then the female will give birth to a single young after a gestation period (pregnancy) of about 4 months.
