SELLING ART Service makes the difference

Selling art:

Based on the best advice

There are many reasons for selling an artwork. It could be a picture that you once loved but have now grown out of. Or a painting that used to hang in your living room but doesn’t really work in the new flat you’ve moved into. It also happens that one comes into the possession of a work of art through an inheritance and doesn’t quite know what to do with it.

Whatever the reason: if you are interested in selling art, we can help you do it successfully.

Send us pictures of your artworks and art objects, along with your contact information and any information you have about the works, via email to: office@imkinsky.com

Our service is free and without obligation!

Evaluation and sales options

Based on your photographs, our experts can determine if there is a demand for the work on the auction market. The next step is to arrange an appointment for us to inspect the work in person, either at your location or at im Kinsky.

Then our experts begin their meticulous research process, including an examination of the state of conservation and comparing past market results with similar works. This determines the exact value of the work.

Subsequently, we discuss with you the options for selling the work at an auction. We work together with you to decide on a minimum selling price in order to give you the assurance that the artwork is sold at terms that are satisfactory to you: if a bid is made below the minimum selling price, you can engage in post-auction negotiations with the potential buyer with no obligation to sell the work.

We keep the risk for our customers low. If a work is not sold, no selling fees are charged.

A work in experienced hands

After signing the contract, you can relax and look forward to the auction with confidence, leaving it to our experts to see to a successful sale. This entails arranging for a restoration, if necessary, having the works professionally photographed, and creating a precise, attractive description of them that is designed to pique the interest of potential buyers. We also send our catalogues to our network of private collectors, institutions, and museums all around the world and promote the auction not only locally but also internationally using a wide variety of channels. Finally, your artwork is given an advantageous spot in our exhibition and is illuminated to attract the gaze of visitors.

But what if the potential buyer misses the auction and discovers our catalogue only later? What if the work doesn’t find a new owner during the auction? Then you still have a chance for four more weeks to find a buyer, because in our post-auction sale, we re-exhibit all unsold lots in an attractive setting and feature them in our online catalogue as well to keep all options open even after the auction—usually with success!
