PROGRAMMES ELEVATE

SELECT THE LEADERSHIP LEARNING YOU NEED Whether you’re an experienced leader or a first-time manager, the ELEVATE series is a great chance to focus on what it takes to lead successfully today. The programme is made up of stand-alone “themes” – giving you the opportunity to handpick those that are most relevant to you and your organisation. You can focus on one key development area – like leading self – or choose all three themes to set you up to get the best from both yourself and your team. Each fast-paced, interactive session runs for one and a half days. Our trainers are dynamic leaders themselves, inspired to share their insight and pass on practical, meaningful skills to support your leadership development.

LEADING SELF THE SELF-AWARE LEADER Most good managers have sound product knowledge or technical skills, the ability to manage relationships and the motivation to succeed. But exceptional managers are also self-aware: they know their own strengths and weaknesses and are able to understand how their emotions and actions affect other people. Get the skills you need to build self-awareness and learn strategies that will help you manage your emotions and make a positive impact as a leader.

imnz.co.nz

THE RESILIENT LEADER As responsibility increases, so does pressure and complexity – and in an environment of rapid change, our ability to cope with adversity and stress strongly affects how we succeed. Resilient leaders learn from failure and are able to take positive action to move forward. Learn tips and techniques to self-manage anxiety and stress, and create a resilience plan that will help you bounce back from setbacks and thrive in highpressure environments.

THE COURAGEOUS LEADER Having the confidence to manage tough conversations and conflict is an essential leadership skill. Your approach can make or break relationships and determine decisions and their outcomes. Take a close look at why some conversations are more difficult than others, get to know your typical response to conflict, and arm yourself with the skills to navigate all manner of courageous conversations for a positive result.

PROGRAMMES ELEVATE

ELEVATE CONTINUED LEADING OTHERS BUILDING AND LEADING TEAMS Everyone brings their own unique talents, strengths and personalities to a team. Whether you’re putting a new team together or developing an existing one, it can be a real challenge to get everyone to contribute productively. It’s much easier when you understand how groups develop and you have a plan in place. Learn how to change your approach at each stage of your team’s development and help them become effective more quickly by applying Lencioni’s model – ‘Five Dysfunctions of a Team.’

10

INFLUENCING OTHERS Influencing others is an important part of working at a senior level, regardless of the role. Every business professional needs to be able to engage with people and get their buy-in and approval on ideas, opinions and decisions. Learn to recognise which influencing style is required in different situations and develop strategies that will help you achieve the outcome you desire.

FEEDBACK FOR RESULTS Feedback plays a critical role in improving workplace performance. Effective feedback enables an individual to change and is a crucial part of improving individual and team performance. This workshop focuses on the one-on-one conversations held between managers and their direct reports. You’ll get to know your own feedback style and use models to plan and prepare positive developmental and personal feedback.

PROGRAMMES ELEVATE

LEADING BUSINESS PERFORMANCE BUSINESS FOCUS AND PLANNING Business planning is critical to the success of any business or department, but it’s also an area that many leaders spend very little time on. A business plan is a powerful tool for bringing objectives and goals into focus. It can help you discover invaluable information and identify risks and opportunities. This workshop takes you through business or departmental goal setting and introduces a few widely used planning tools. You’ll leave with a high level ‘plan on a page’ that you can build on for future success.

BUSINESS EVOLUTION Innovation and the continual evolution of processes and products is imperative for organisations that don’t want to get left behind. It can improve the smooth running of your operations, efficiency, competitiveness, customer loyalty, and the effectiveness of your employees. Learn the importance of continual evaluation and review. And come away with tools that will help you drive innovation in your organisation.

LEADING CHANGE / LEADING PERFORMANCE Periods of change can be challenging – and sound leadership is essential to help people make positive transitions. This session focuses on the skills required to navigate people through change. Explore your role in communicating and planning change, find out how people typically respond and why, and learn tactics to help manage their responses and resistance to it.

PROGRAMMES IMNZ PROGRAMME IN PROFESSIONAL COACHING

PROGRAMME CONTENT MODULE 1 – THE SELF-BELIEF MODULE Module One has a focus on building self- awareness, as a fundamental attribute of an effective coach. This will include the use of psychometrics such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Firo-B, both explored from their application to coaching. There is also a focus on understanding what coaching is, and what it isn’t, building rapport and the coaching relationship, the importance of contracting and recognising the different stakeholders in the coaching relationship, and then a reprise of the GROW model, with plenty of practice. In between Module One and Module Two, each participant will receive a coaching session from a fellow participant, and will give a coaching session to a different fellow participant. They will be asked to make some short, reflective notes for themselves to bring to the next workshop. MODULE TWO – THE TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES OF COACHING Module Two includes group coaching supervision around the coaching experiences since the last workshop, and specific input and practice around tools and techniques to enhance each stage of the GROW model. There is also the opportunity for plenary discussion around issues of importance to the group, such as building the coaching culture in their part of the organisation, how to handle confidentiality within an organisational context, and so on. Because we have such wide experience of working with in-house groups of managers who want to be able to manage a role as a coach as well as their role as a manager, we can share many examples of best (and worst!) practice, from a practical perspective. In between Workshop Two and Workshop Three, the same coaching practice activities as before will take place. MODULE THREE – SUPERVISION, INTEGRATION AND OBSERVED COACHING Module Three will again include group coaching supervision, and will set up the groups so that they are able to continue carrying out this function beyond the duration of the formal programme. There will also be a focus on Solutions Focused Coaching, as a particularly useful approach within an organisational, performance-coaching context. Finally, there will be some integration work, both at an individual and group level, to ensure consolidation and transfer of learning.

“ The course was outstanding both in terms of gaining knowledge but also developing practical skills that could be deployed in everyday leadership. I continue to use those skills as a CEO and also with my private coaching business.” Roger Mclaughlan Former Chief Executive, Toys R Us – United Kingdom Each of the three modules is delivered in a two day module. The investment for this world class programme is $6,500 + GST for members and $8,450 + GST for non-members.
