2023 Special Olympics Winter Games, Powder Ridge Mountain, 99 Powder Hill Rd., Middlefield. Powder Ridge is proud to host Special Olympics Connecticut 2023 Winter Games. Come cheer on the athletes of all abilities from across the state. Events are free and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to attend. • Opening Ceremonies: 9:30 a.m.• Competition: 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Saturday); 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Sunday)• Awards: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Saturday); 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Sunday)
March 5: West Hartford
CT Spelling Bee, University of Saint Josephs, 1678 Asylum Ave, West Hartford. The Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society is proud to sponsor The Connecticut Spelling Bee along with host University of Saint Joseph’s Bruyette Athenaeum’s Hoffman Auditorium on March 5, 2023 at 1:00pm, to see the final Connecticut spelling competition before the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
March 7: Essex
STEAMgirls at CRM: Erica Cirino, VIRTUAL PROGRAM, Connecticut River Museum. A virtual program to serve girls, age 10-16, interested in studying the academic areas of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. STEAMgirls participants meet and speak with accomplished young women, learning first-hand about the career successes women are experiencing in all areas of STEAM; providing young girls with knowledge that may ignite their passion for the future. March 10 - 12: Hartford

Ringrose & Freeman: St Patrick’s Day Concert, Stanley-Whitman House, 37 High Street, Farmington. This unique Celtic duo combines singer/guitarist Dan Ringrose, whose voice has been called “stunning”, and fiddler Jeanne Freeman, who has been described as “effortlessly virtuosic.” Saturday 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM $20

March 18: Middlefield
Card Board Box Race, Powder Ridge Mountain, 99 Powder Hill Rd., Middlefield. Get your team together. Challenge your co-workers, friends, and neighbors. Awards will be given out for best design, funniest and fastest speed. Great team building and loads of fun for all. Kids division: $15; Adult: $20. Pre-register your team, 12 years and under the category for families. Proceeds benefit Adaptive Adventures.
March 18 - 19: New Milford
Maple Fest Weekend, Sullivan Farm- Great Brook Sugarhouse, 140 Park Lane, New Milford. The open house will display maple syruping techniques used by indigenous peoples, early colonists, civil war era and finishing with a tour of our modern facility lead by student docents. The entire tour should take around 30 minutes. Our maple syrup and other maple products will be available for purchase. Sat. 10 a.m-4 p.m., Sun. noon-5 p.m. FREE
March 24: Torrington
Blippi, Oneglia Auditorium, 68 Main St., Torrington. Blippi is coming to the Warner Theatre in Torrington for the ultimate curiosity adventure in Blippi: The Wonderful World! Tour! So, come on! Dance, sing, and learn with Blippi and special guest Meekah as they discover what makes different cities unique and special. Will there be monster trucks, excavators, and garbage trucks galore? You bet! So get ready to shake those wiggles out and OJ Twist your way through this brand-new musical party! 6pm $32-$62

Essex Goes Daffy with “Daffodil Days!”. The 43,000+ daffodils waiting to blossom across Essex, Centerbrook and Ivoryton villages invite you to celebrate Spring! Celebrate with our merchants along “Daffodil Way”! Exit 3, Rte. 9, Across from the Essex Firehouse; Sunset Pond, West Avenue; Congregational Church Hill, West Avenue; and Ivoryton Green, in front of Ivoryton Playhouse, Ivoryton Village.
