Dandelion, Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road, West Hartford. This musical tells the story of Dandelion, a shy, awkward lion. In addition to the theme of being yourself, the musical raises issues of bullying and social exclusion. Dandelion Sensory-Friendly Performance: Saturday, May 13th at 10am. $22.50-$25.00
May 6: Pomfret
Pomfret 17th Annual Town Wide Tag Sale, 20 Pomfret Street, 326 Taft Pond Road Pomfret Center, Pomfret. The Pomfret Proprietors Association established the region’s first and best town wide sale, which draws visitors to the Quiet Corner for treasures galore with over 50 locations throughout town. Many sales benefit local organizations and charities, so your bargains are meaningful to the community. Starting at 7:00 AM

Suburban Garden Club of Cheshire’s May Marketplace and Plant Sale. Cheshire Congregation Church Green, 111 Church Dr., Cheshire The free marketplace will include a variety of beautiful plants. The market will also feature a great selection of items perfect for Mother’s Day, teacher’s gifts, as well as a garden-related tag sale. Sat. 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Frog Frolic Festival, Redding Community Center, 37 Lonetown Road, Redding, CT. Mark Twain Library’s. A special day for the whole community, where adults, kids, (and yes, even teens!) can come together to enjoy live music, food trucks, play games, craft, and spend time with friends! Food trucks are: Artisan Food Trailer, All Belgium, 900 Degress Pizza Truck and more! Saturday, 10:00am-4:00m FREE
May 6: Trumbull
Connecticut Chocolate Festival, Trumbull Marriott, 180 Hawley Lane, Trumbull, CT. Come delight your senses with chocolate tastings, chocolate making workshops, seminars from local and celebrity chefs, and more! From bean-to-bar chocolate to decadent handmade truffles, to unique and inspired chocolate confections and all things dessert, indulge in a tasting experience that truly celebrates chocolate and dessert in all forms! 11am – 5pm . $15 advance, $20 at the door.

Free First Weekend Family Program: On the Move, Connecticut Historical Society, 1 Elizabeth Street, Hartford. Have you ever moved from one place to another? Explore our newest exhibition, Journeys: Boys of the Chinese Educational Mission and then look through suitcases full of historic toys, clothing, and household items to uncover the experiences of immigrants to Connecticut in the 1800s and 1900s. Then, pretend you were planning for your own journey to a new place – what would you bring? 11am – 2pm FREE
May 7: Burlington, Canton, Collinsville
Burlington to Collinsville Classic 10K, 4 Market Street, Collinsville. The flat, shaded course finishes in the quaint downtown of Collinsville. All participants will earn a short sleeve technical shirt and a custom designed finisher medal. After the race, enjoy delicious fresh food from our friends at Lisa’s Crown & Hammer! 8:30 – 10:30am
May 7: Litchfield
Girls Just Wanna Run 5K, North Shore Road, Litchfield. A fundraising event hosted by the Junior Women’s Club of Litchfield Hills that focuses on promoting health and wellness in girls and women. Run or walk along beautiful Bantam Lake! Begins at Noon. Adult $30 (until 4/14), $35 (starting 4/15), children (12 and under) $18

May 13: Middlefield
Mother’s Day Cake Decorating Workshop, Lyman Orchards Apple Barrel, 7 Lyman Road, Middlefield. Sweeten up Mother’s Day Weekend with a Kid’s Heart Cake Decorating Workshop. Kids will learn the love of cake decorating while icing and decorating their very own Heart Cake alongside Lyman’s Head Bakery Chef, Marc Gadoury. Choose from 10am or 1pm sessions on May 13th. $20 per person
May 14: Stamford
Discovering Amistad 2023 Voyage for Freedom, 1 Harbor Point Road, Stamford. Discovering Amistad will be offering tours of the Amistad ship. Come by and learn from our education team about how the ship was built, the story of the Amistad Rebellion, and how we use the vessel today. From 12 p.m. to 4 pm. FREE
May 17-19: Bethlehem
Lilac Walks, Bellamy-Ferriday House, 9 Main St N, Bethlehem. Each spring, the stunning variety of lilacs planted by Caroline Ferriday and her mother scent the gardens and show off their signature shades of purples, pinks, and even whites. Our tour will take you through the gardens and show you the numerous varieties of lilacs, how we care for them, and tips on how to care for your own lilacs. Wednesday, May 17; Thursday, May 18; Friday, May 19, 3:30 – 4:30 pm. $12/person, $10/Member
May 20: New Canaan
New Canaan Food Revolution, 77 Main Street, New Canaan. Enjoy a morning strolling downtown and sampling food at stores and restaurants. Earn a stamp for everything you taste, if you complete your passport then you will be entered into a prize draw. Enjoy live music and soak up the festival vibes. Proceeds from ticket sales will be given to charity.
May 27: Wethersfield
Revolutionary War Encampment, Webb Deane Stevens Museum, 211 Main Street, Wethersfield. Our annual Revolutionary War Encampment will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on the Museum grounds. Join us for a day of free family fun. Plus, General George Washington will make an appearance, accompanied by a very special guest!
