The WDHG staff consists of landscape architects with backgrounds in architecture and interior design as well as, graphic designers and support personnel. Resort Lifestyle Design In 1988, the firm’s assignments were single-family and mid-rise residential communities, as well as commercial projects. The next year, however, it was retained to design exteriors for The Great House, sited on famed 7-mile Beach in Grand Cayman Islands. A series of resort commissions followed, including projects in locations such as Turks & Caicos, Grenada, St. Thomas, Cancun and Paradise Island for such clients as Ritz Carlton, Wyndham Resorts and Sandals Resorts International. Today, Witkin Design Group has projects for various clients on more than a dozen Caribbean islands. Meanwhile, in Florida, WHDG began translating its island resort experience into resort lifestyle designs for high-profile, high-rise residential communities as well as large-scale planned unit developments. These projects demonstrated the firm’s commitment to produce fully-integrated exterior environments, its understanding of the resort lifestyle concept, and its ability to deliver quality, multi-discipline services on time and on budget. As a result, WHDG is currently providing resort lifestyle design for a broad range of residential communities on both the east and west coasts of Florida. A Consistent Approach to the Design of Exterior Environments Whether restoring a storm-damaged property or designing for a new project, Witkin Hults Design Group brings to the process the conviction that exterior environments should support and compliment the overall signature of a community. That means master landscaping plans that showcase architectural design, reinforce the distinctive themes and ambiance of a community, and enhance the property’s marketability. It also means strong attention to the smallest details: Plant materials appropriate for a property’s climate and maintenance capabilities; lighting strategies that highlight landscapes and amenities but are consistent with the tone of a community; special exterior elements to screen sound (e.g., fountains, waterfalls); pedestrian walkways and hardscapes that are comfortable to use and appealing to the eye, and more. As the firm’s assignments have grown in number and magnitude, the staff at Witkin Hults Design Group has grown as well. Its internal project management systems insure that every assignment is well monitored through each step of the process from concept to construction documentation and construction administration, whether the project is a high-rise on two acres or a PUD on 300 acres.
