Greetings Imperial Family Members, Monarchs and Guests: On behalf of the Imperial Council of San Francisco, Inc. Board of Directors, past and present Monarchs, titleholders, Imperial family members and guests, I welcome each and every one of you to San Francisco and Coronation 51.

As the Chairman of the Board of Directors, it has been my privilege and honor to work with and for everyone in our amazing organization. Be it our Board of Directors, current and past title holders or members of our family, the passion and dedication that all hold for our city, our community and San Francisco Imperial Council, have been an inspiration to me through the entire year!

I would like to say special congratulations to our monarchs who are stepping down, Kevin and Khmera, you had an amazing year and did a phenomenal job representing our great city and sharing the history of the San Francisco Imperial Council.

In closing again I would like to welcome all of you to San Francisco and please remember the word from our dear founder Mama Jose “Together we stand; divided they pick us off one by one” And so tonight let us stand together and celebrate our amazing organization and family.

"I've learned that people will forget what you said...people will forget what you did, but people will Never forget how you made them feel" Maya Angelou In my extensive travels I have witnessed first hand how Emperor Kevin Lisle and Empress Khmera Rouge have touched people's hearts across North America...they have truly become one of San Francisco's and The International Imperial Court System's most Loved and Respected Monarchs. During their Reign: Kevin and Khmera have become "Role Models" of what gay monarchy should be about: KINDNESS .

When I proclaimed them the " Golden Jubilee Monarchs "of the International Court System of the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico little did I know that they truly would become such monarchs.....I know my beloved mother and founder of the International Court System, Empress I Jose and my beloved father Emperor I Marcus are so proud of their children. On a personal note among the countless Honors and awards Kevin and Khmera received during their Reign I am very proud that my city's Mayor Kevin Faulconer proclaimed them " Honorary Citizens of San Diego" !!!!!

I wish to thank the Board of Directors of the Imperial Court of San Francisco for producing a historic 50th Celebration of our founding Mother Court at City Hall. My appreciation to Chairman Nathan Page and the hard working San Francisco members of the International Imperial Court Council; Absolute Empress Tiger Lily and Absolute Empress Patty McGroin... especially the Absolute Empress Donna Sachet "The Crown Princess of the Americas" who has represented San Francisco on the Council during my entire reign now of ten years. Also, congratulations once again to Czar Keith and Czarina Gladys Bump who were one of only five couples honored as a "Golden Jubilee Royal Couple"... and to Absolute Empress Alexis Miranda - a 2016 recipient of the coveted "Jose Honors".

Here is to another fifty years to the Imperial Court of San Francisco!

The Imperial Council of San Francisco has not only been an integral part of San Francisco’s rich history and cultural diversity, but also created one of the largest and oldest charitable LGBT organization in the world.

A big congratulation to the reigning Monarchs of San Francisco, Emperor Kevin Lisle and Empress Khmera Rouge on their tireless fundraising efforts and community service to San Francisco non-­‐profits and LGBT community. You continued the incredible legacy José Julio Sarria, Absolute Empress I, The Widow Norton pioneered 50 years ago, with grace and strong commitment to making the world a more inclusive place.

Empress I, Jose Sarria was a pioneer of the LGBT movement and I applaud those that continue her legacy to fight for their community. I am incredibly proud of the San Francisco Unified School District’s long history in supporting LGBTQ students and integrating LGBT studies into our curriculum. Just this year, San Francisco Unified recently introduced the nation’s first LGBT Studies high school course to ensure that LGBT history and contributions are recognized and celebrated.

I wish to congratulate the reigning monarchs of San Francisco, Emperor Kevin Lisle and Empress Khmera Rouge on a successful Golden Jubilee reign and year of fundraising to support vital local nonprofit organizations such as the AIDS Emergency Fund and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund along with numerous organizations that fight hunger and supports education.

emperor s l0g Stardate 27.02.2016 As I look back on the last year, I honestly can’t believe how much I have experienced and how fast it went. As Emperor of San Francisco I fully expected to have fun. Little did I know just how MUCH that thought would become reality and to how extreme it would be! As you read this I am experiencing the final moments of my reign as The Red DAWG Golden Jubilee Emperor and below is just some of the many adventures and experiences I have been so very fortunate to have.

After the sheer excitement of being krowned Emperor XLIII of San Francisco, I and my campaign team including Emperor XXXVIII Stephen Dorsey, Emperor XL Bradley Roberts, Imperial Prince To The Council of Emperors Gary Virginia, Baron Butler to the Triple X Golden Star Emperor CoCo Butter, Corey & Walter and others celebrated into the wee hours. I awoke to the realization that my alarm clock was not set for the correct time and I was going to be late for the bus to attend the annual pilgrimage to the grave sites of Emperor Norton and Our Beloved Founder, Absolute Empress I, The Widow Norton José. I made it and off we went.

This would be a similar theme throughout the year.

After returning from the cemetery it was time to attend Victory Brunch and announce the name of our court: The Imperial Court of Kourage, Klass, Leather and Lace. My Empress Khmera Rouge and I were to be the heads of Reign L (or 50 for those who do not know Roman numerals.)

When the dust settled after Victory Brunch it was time to get ready for our 50th Anniversary Gala that was being celebrated in the City Hall Rotunda. Over 800 guests attended from lands close and far. Being the newly elected Monarchs of San Francisco we were to be announced last in a list of all the previous monarchs of San Francisco. We were not just announced but a barrier of two flags blocked our view and when, with great anticipation, we were announced and the flags were withdrawn we descended the steps in the great Rotunda all the way to the bottom of the steps to overwhelming applause. If the previous evening, not even 24 hour removed, wasn’t magic, then THIS truly was! We continued to celebrate through the evening and I literally passed out in my tux and crown.

My Prime Minister & Imperial High Priest CoCo Butter, Imperial Princess To The Council of Emperors Deana Dawn and I got ready for the HAT party (Hawaii Alaska Texas) at Club OMG for a benefit to help offset what would become a whirlwind of travel and excursion for me and my Empress. Here we go!

When Khmera asked if I was planning to attend Long Beach I was not 100% certain as I had not completely set my calendar for the

next 4 months with work and as such couldn’t commit. When my childhood buddy heard I was unsure of attending my first out of town with my Empress he stopped me in my tracks and said, “You’re going!” Well that was THAT and off I went to the first of many .... Long Beach was amazing and I would absolutely fall in love with the Long Beach Court and the FABULOUS Fabrique and her husband the KRAZY Michael Pennington as well as the SEXY Randy Amante Saner. During coronation, (oh by the way I arrived at 5:30pm in Long Beach ... the ball started at 6pm!) much to our SURPRISE, the Queen Mother I of the Americas Nicole The Great bestowed upon Khmera and myself the title of The Golden Jubilee Monarchs of the International Court System! We were presented plaques and greeted with warm applause. And to think I ALMOST wasn’t there! What a way to start the tour.

When we returned to the city it was time to plan investing our court.

During the next month we created our court logo and marketing materials and began to set the date for investing our court. In the process of choosing the date and working out arrangements we realized that a traditional Saturday night was not in the cards as it would conflict with attending Stockton coronation. The decision to set our court’s Investiture would prove to be yet another example of magic as it provided our first opportunity to bond with the reigning Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of San Francisco TJ Wilkinson and Roxy-Cotton Candy. The looks from the drivers at Roxy driving in face were definitely for the books.

Stockton coronation with the court of Victory, Valor and Voodoo would reintroduce us to the Voodoo Emperor 41 Matthew St. James and the Voodoo Empress 41 Krystal Archer Michaels.

Khmera and I were honored to be accompanied by two of our closest friends of the court, the future Count to the Court, the Emperor’s Keeper, Cory Vaughn and the future Viscount de Leather and Lace Walter Vandernald. I honestly think Matthew cast a voodoo spell on me that night because I was smitten by him and that night set in motion a friendship beyond boundaries.

Investiture was themed 50 Shades of K and was held at Heklina’s Club Oasis where we Krowned our Imperial Crown Prince, Nic Hunter and Imperial Crown Princess, Miz Eva Sensitiva along with

the rest of our court. The night was a magical evening filled with amazing performances that included live bondage demonstrations by Beth Bicoastal. The Bare Chest Calendar Men were in attendance showing their hot selves and we were guarded by the Castro Community on Patrol which included our future Mr. Golden Gate, Leandro Gonzales, Mr. Gay SF 2102, Kit Tapata, and Lori Howes.

The court was invested and now it was time to do some traveling. Next stop, New York and a Night of a Thousand Gowns. To say that New York did an amazing coronation would be an understatement. When Khmera and I walked the red carpet we were interviewed by many of the media including the Huffington Post and the Advocate. What we didn’t know was that Khmera and I were to be presented on stage as the American Golden Jubilee Monarchs of the International Court System along with the Canadian representative Robert George of Hamilton, Ontario and the Mexican representative Christian Flores of Tijuana.

We were accompanied by a large contingent that included my Lord of Libation and Leisure de Liberty Hill, Lucius Conrad, and my Crown Prince of Pomp and Circumstance Russell (Rusty) Gaspard, and none other than Absolute Empress XXX Donna Sachet, Emperor XL Bradley Roberts, Crown Prince Consort Esquire Lord and Protector to the Imperial Majesty, Travis Wise, Mr. Golden Gate 2005, Raymond McKenzie, Cory, and Walter. Watching Tony Monteleone and Twinkles Montgomery step down was a memorable site that was only matched in the very Gothic way that we would be introduced to the New Emperor Opi N Yated and his Empress Madison Mansfield. A night I will never forget.

After we returned it was time for Khmera and I to be presented to our Empire properly. Being a southern boy from Alabama, it was decided by my Prince of Pomp and Circumstance, Rusty and my Crown Prince & High Priest of the Golden Jubilee and Prime Minister, CoCo

The Bare Chest Calendar Men were in attendance showing their hot selves and we were guarded by the Castro Community on Patrol which included our future Mr. Golden Gate, Leandro Gonzales, Mr. Gay SF 2102, Kit Tapata, and Lori Howes.

The court was invested and now it was time to do some traveling. Next stop, New York and a Night of a Thousand Gowns. To say that New York did an amazing coronation would be an understatement. When Khmera and I walked the red carpet we were interviewed by many of the media including the Huffington Post and the Advocate. What we didn’t know was that Khmera and I were to be presented on stage as the American Golden Jubilee Monarchs of the International Court System along with the Canadian representative Robert George of Hamilton, Ontario and the Mexican representative Christian Flores of Tijuana.

We were accompanied by a large contingent that included my Lord of Libation and Leisure de Liberty Hill, Lucius Conrad, and my Crown Prince of Pomp and Circumstance Russell (Rusty) Gaspard, and none other than Absolute Empress XXX Donna Sachet, Emperor XL Bradley Roberts, Crown Prince Consort Esquire Lord and Protector to the Imperial Majesty, Travis Wise, Mr. Golden Gate 2005, Raymond McKenzie, Cory, and Walter. Watching Tony Monteleone and Twinkles Montgomery step down was a memorable site that was only matched in the very Gothic way that we would be introduced to the New Emperor Opi N Yated and his Empress Madison Mansfield. A night I will never forget.

After we returned it was time for Khmera and I to be presented to our Empire properly. Being a southern boy from Alabama, it was decided by my Prince of Pomp and Circumstance, Rusty and my Crown Prince & High Priest of the Golden Jubilee and Prime Minister, CoCo

emperor s l0g Butter, that we were to have a Southern style Kotillion up in Marin County. On the lawn of Robert Majors’ lavish home overlooking the San Francisco Bay, we were served Mint Julips by our lovely and shirtless Baron of Bondage, Brent Gannetta and very hot Prince of Otters to her Imperial Majesty, Marquis de Midnight Sun, Michael Tempesta and were treated to tasty delectables prepared by Executive Chef Rusty.

Next stop was Phoenix for Emperor Bill Mitch and Empress Eddie Navi Ho George’s step down and Emperor Steve Marino and Empress Olivia Gardens to ascend the throne. That evening had a special surprise guest with THE QUEEN MOTHER doing a special Chicken Dance in full Chicken regalia, including feathers. A sight not soon forgetten!

When Synergy and I hopped into the car to go to Fresno I had no idea what Fireball was ... now I do. To say that we had fun seeing Emperor Robert Lujan and Empress Joanna Jackson step down is an understatement. ALL the Cali boys were there and the Fireball never ended. I think at some point Crown Prince John Bagwell had to just let go and let God. I think the newly elected Empress Leilani Price will likely have to have a separate budget just for Fireball!

The Empire and EMPIRES abroad would soon hear the news that Emperor XXXII Fernando Robles of San Francisco had fallen. He was also our Board Chairman and a personal friend whom I became fast friends with shortly after moving to San Francisco 24 years ago. This would prove to be an unexpected bonding of courts as Reno, Nevada was to elect a new Empress, none other than Hope Jewel-Halston. The shared grieving for all present would show all that we stand strong together and in support of all our family!

June and SF Pride brought a phenomenal experience as we prepared to represent the Imperial Council in the 45th anniversary of the SF Pride Parade, of which my dear friend Gary Virginia, was President of Pride. Our contingent won Best in Street theme!

The summer went on and I soon found myself in a new land. Boise Idaho is an Empire I would soon find out had more than just hot boys and Spuds as chocolate treats! I would be introduced to the newly crowned Emperor & Empress of Salt Lake City Nathan Graham & Krystina Shaylee; two amazing people that I came to adore immensely, and It would showcase a year’s amazing reign as Emperor Eddie Del Rey and Empress Percilla Moore stepped down and accepted Regency for the next year. These two are a powerhouse and Star Wars GEEKS! May The Spuds be with you!

July 25th would be the State Funeral of Fernando and an attempt to bring closure to an open wound. I know he would only want smiles and fond remembrances.

Alaska coronation was a thrilling adventure to the top of the planet. Guided by Dennis Wezlman and including my Baron of Kink, Barkeep to the Red DAWG, Chad McLaughlin, we went to Portage Glacier and nature reserve. That was AMAZING! Coronation provided the occasion to see Emperor Tom Azzarella and Empress Nicole Poole ascend the throne, and would introduce me to a new friend Justin Meekins.

As September stretched on I would find myself attending Alameda Imperial coronation where we enjoyed an amazing gathering from family members from all over California.

October would be the beginning of a stretch that I seriously do not know how I managed it all! First off was my EMPEROR’S NIGHT OUT! Karmen, my drag persona, was out and took the empire by storm! Then with stubble on my chest and face, we jetsetted all the way to the Empire of the Islands of Hawaii where we were greeted with hospitality and Kulture that I will never forget.

Hawaii was a wonderful time in paradise. Our court donned appropriate Hawaiian Imperial attire complete with leis thanks to my dear friend and brother Emperor XXVIII John Carrillo. Seeing Empress Danielle Logan step down and Emperor Brendan Haymaker ascend the throne was a special moment for me as Danielle and I have a special bond. It was also great to see Tacoma’s Emperor 36 Jimi Cricket; especially seeing his skinny self-run up and down the beach fashioning an outfit out of trash on the beach that would earn him the title of King Neptuna.

Only a couple of days back from Hawaii and off I went to Portland to attend the state dinner and celebration of the conclusion of the 50thGolden Jubilee year and Portland’s Rose Court coronation. I met many dignitaries including Jim Obergefell and Stuart Milk.

I returned home for a couple of days and then was off to Dallas coronation where I saw Emperor Christopher Stinnett, and Emperor Larry Finch & Empress Anna Conda Carter ascend the throne. It was Halloween and the entertainment and attendees were appropriately attired. This is where I would meet Emperor Ashton Stone & Empress Anise Mawnrow of Austin and Marty Edwards of Fort Worth. We became fast buddies and they are a LOT of fun!

We got back from Dallas and the next weekend we traveled to Palm Springs for their Gay Pride and visited with the Monarchs of San Francisco who had moved there. As a special treat Absolute Empress XXVII Velveeta Mozzarella arranged for Khmera and I to ride in the Barracks contingent with our Court flag.

This is the only time that any reigning monarchs of San Francisco have represented in the parade. The family gathering was amazing with all but one monarch in attendance.

Modesto was the next coronation I attended to see Regent Emperor Shaun St. James and Regent Empress Karmen St. James celebrate the conclusion of their reign and Empress Dixie Paul ascend the throne with Rick Regur. It was a fun trip and I got to spend time with the California monarchs.

December we travelled to Las Vegas where our court did a Command Performance using Red Solo cups and a LOT of ping pong balls. It was well-received except for later when the balls needed to be cleaned up. OOPS, sorry ... Coronation was fun and we saw Emperor Matthew Cox & Empress Diana Prince ascend the throne.

January and the New Year came and we travelled to Chico for coronation and celebrate Regent Emperor Patty Smith & Regent Empress Bijou Lamour complete their reign and there was a lot of Fireball ....

February is the beginning of the end and we travelled to San Diego for coronation to see Emperor Michael Lochner & Empress Toni Saunders celebrate the end of their reign. It was great spending time with Absolute Empress XLVII Sissy St. Clair and Gary Hackett and the who had moved to San Diego last year and The Queen Mother. The theme was Military and let’s just say that the attire was very nice.

This past weekend I travelled to Seattle for coronation where I had my last out of state Walk as the Reigning Emperor and it was an emotional one. The production values and entertainment were a lot of fun. We celebrated Emperor Victor Girthwood & Empress Shirly Todae concluding their reign and witnessed Regent Emperor Mark Surreal & Empress DonnaTella Howe ascend the throne. Was also great to see Tacoma’s Empress 36 Mulan Rouge. I am so proud of the large contingent we had representing San Francisco.

As I conclude this log I am increasingly emotional and reflective as this year was truly magical. I couldn’t be more proud to be an Emperor of San Francisco and have the most amazing Empress any could hope for. I had so much support from so many not only in our realm but across the other empires. It truly is a family and although not perfect (what family is?), I am so very grateful for our Board and to all those who participated and stepped up to make the Golden Jubilee Year worthy of the history books and one that would make Mama José very proud.

empress log Herro ... It’s Me. Greetings to our honored guests from Galaxies and Empires near and far, welcome and thank you for joining us here in San Francisco for Koronation 2016: A Space Odyssey!

I have yet to find a way to accurately describe the experience of the past 378 days since stepping up and into the role of Empress..., the closest I’ve been able to come is that it has been simply “Out of this World ... ” To be crowned the 50th elected Empress of San Francisco and to kick off a new chapter and the next 50 years of this organization that was started by Absolute Empress I de San Francisco, Mama Jose Sarria back in 1965, has truly been an incredible and an unforgettable honor, privilege and experience.

As we look towards the stars, and the future of this organization and where the next 50 years will take us, I thank you for allowing me the opportunity of being your Empress during the Golden Jubilee Year.

There are kountless people to thank, but those listed below are just a fraction of all the amazing and hardworking individuals across the International Court System that I have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know.

These are just a few thank you’s to those that have come into my life, have inspired me and helped me become the Empress I am today.

Please do forgive me if there is anyone I may have missed, but know that you helped make a huge impact during my reign and for that, I am truly thankful.

First and foremost, to my partner, my friend and my biggest fan, Travis..., thank you for your unwavering and steady guidance through the entire planning, campaign, election and reigning process. To Absolute Empress 36 Chablis, thank you for being part of my drag experience since the beginning. You were there to greet me as I walked into Deco Lounge for the first time as Khmera and so happy to have had you be a part of my life since. Thank you for working tirelessly to support not only me this past year, but also working so hard to preserve our family history and legacy with your amazing documentary film, 50 Years of Fabulous.

To Absolute Empress 25 Marlena, it was from you that I bought my first dress. I blame you for putting a spark in me and helping bringing Khmera out into this world. :) That particular dress was bought for and worn out on Halloween in 2011 and marked the first time ever in drag. As soon as I put it on, I felt an amazing energy and it gave me a sense of konfidence and power I never felt or knew I had before. It gave me the ability to go out, kick butt, take names and lead my community towards a brighter future. It was that dress that gave me the itch to start doing drag and doing it with a purpose that would eventually lead me to becoming Empress. That dress, as it would turn out, happened to belonged to Absolute Empress 35, Susie Wong. When you first told me that, I had no klue what that meant and just nodded politely. How serendipitous that, and everything as a result, turned out to full circle so many years later.

Thank you for all of your support. I’ve enjoyed our lunches and so happy to have had the chance to get to know you.

To Queen Mother Nicole, Thank you so much for all of your support over this past year and for bestowing upon us the distinction and International Court System title of being the Golden Jubilee Anniversary Monarchs and the International Royal Order of Empress I, Jose.

To Absolute Empress 36 Chablis, thank you for being part of my drag experience since the beginning. You were there to greet me as I walked into Deco Lounge for the first time as Khmera and so happy to have had you be a part of my life since. Thank you for working tirelessly to support not only me this past year, but also working so hard to preserve our family history and legacy with your amazing documentary film, 50 Years of Fabulous.

To Absolute Empress 25 Marlena, it was from you that I bought my first dress. I blame you for putting a spark in me and helping bringing Khmera out into this world. :) That particular dress was bought for and worn out on Halloween in 2011 and marked the first time ever in drag. As soon as I put it on, I felt an amazing energy and it gave me a sense of konfidence and power I never felt or knew I had before. It gave me the ability to go out, kick butt, take names and lead my community towards a brighter future. It was that dress that gave me the itch to start doing drag and doing it with a purpose that would eventually lead me to becoming Empress. That dress, as it would turn out, happened to belonged to Absolute Empress 35, Susie Wong. When you first told me that, I had no klue what that meant and just nodded politely. How serendipitous that, and everything as a result, turned out to full circle so many years later.

Thank you for all of your support. I’ve enjoyed our lunches and so happy to have had the chance to get to know you.

One of the goals I set when I was elected Empress was to not only focus on raising money for fighting hunger within our community and supporting our youth and education, but to also travel as much as I could to reconnect with the many other Empires across the court system and to represent San Francisco to the best of my ability. I’m proud that our court has been able to travel over 50,000 miles this year and visit over 35 Empires. The friendships I’ve made along the way have given me memories that I will cherish of for a lifetime, and at the same time, given me nightmares of hangovers that still reeks of Fireball ... (To those that made us take those shots ... you know who you are ... ) I also set a goal to raise $50,000 for our local charities as well as wanting to do a State visit to visit Imperial Family members in Palm Springs. I’m proud to say we got all we wished for and more and so thankful for each and every person who has helped make this year so memorable and successful.

Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico was alternatively described as both a visionary and a mad man.
