MFU ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants must have a strong desire to study at Mae Fah Luang University.

• Applicants must be physically healthy without any diseases or conditions that might inhibit their ability to study.

• Applicants must have graduated from the upper secondary education level or according to the education system as follows:

• BRITISH SYSTEM

- Graduation from Year 13, according to the English education system; or

- Graduation Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A Level) with grade results A*-E on at least 3 different subjects or - Cambridge Pre-U with grade result M1 or D1-D3 on at least 3 different subjects.

• AMERICAN SYSTEM

- Graduation from grade 12, according to the American education system.

- Graduation from GED, according to the American education system.

• NEW ZEALAND SYSTEM

(1) National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) under New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) At least 80 credits achieved with:

- NCEA Level 2 or above 60 credits and - NCEA Level 1 or above 20 credits with English for Speaker of other Languages (ESOL) considered as a subject Graduates are required to obtain an NCEA Level 2 qualification, Record of Achievement, certificate of level, number of subjects and credits for each subject from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).

(2) National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) under New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) At least 60 credits achieved on 5 different subjects at Level 2 or above with: - at least 4 credits of English (Literacy) - at least 4 credits of Mathematics (Numeracy) without English for Speaker of other Languages (ESOL)

Graduates receive a transcript (Record of Achievement) and a degree certificate. Number of subjects and individual credits from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). The Criteria (2) is effective for New Zealand graduates of High school education from the 2009 academic year onwards.

• INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB)

(1) International Baccalaureate Diploma, that a total score of 5 subjects and 1 elective course with a minimum score of 24 and pass the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Action & Service (CAS) criteria according to International criteria. Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) or (2) IB Diploma Course Results ( IBCR) with not less than grade 3 on at least 5 different subjects.

• BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION COUNCIL (BTEC)

It is a Vocational Qualification.

• Graduated from other systems according to the high school curriculum or equivalent according to the highest basic education curriculum of each country (Secondary School)

• Applicants must be approved by the schools to be eligible for admission.

English Language Requirements

• Applicants must have the qualification in accordance with the requirements in either 1. or 2., details as follows:

1. Applicants must have the English proficiency test result not less than the following requirements:

The test result should not exceed two years since the examination date.

2. Applicants must graduate from high schools in the native English-speaking countries: Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA and Canada.

• In the case that applicants do not have the English proficiency test result as stated in 1. and do not graduate from high schools as stated in 2. but have other academic qualifications that meet requirements of the programme, the School shall accept applicants with conditions as follows:

- Applicants are required to take the Placement Test prepared by the School of Liberal Arts. The Placement Test fee is 500 Baht per test If the applicants have a passing score of 60%, they shall be accepted to study by the School.

Thai Language Requirements

Applicants are required to be able to use Thai in listening, speaking, reading, and writing at a competent level in the following programmes;

- Laws

- Business Law and Chinese Communications

- Nursing Science

- Applied Thai Traditional Medicine

- Traditional Chinese Medicine

- Physical Therapy

Remarks:

- Applications for each programme are reviewed every one month until the seats are full which means that available seats for certain programme may be filled prior to the application deadline.

- Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance.

- Applicants can select one programme when applying to MFU.

5. Damage Insurance (Refundable after Graduation) 2,000 Baht

9. How to Live and Learn on Campus Programme 1,100 Baht

10. A Bank Account and New Student ID Card Fee (ATM Card) 200 Baht

11. Health Check at MFU Hospital per programme 590 Baht (vary depending on the programme)

Except - Environmental Health, the fee is 790 THB

- Occupational Health and Safety, the fee is 790 THB

- Public Health, the fee is 1,070 THB

- Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, the fee is 1,070 THB

- Nursing Science, the fee is 1,130 THB

- Traditional Chinese Medicine, the fee is 1,230 THB

- Physical Therapy, the fee is 1,560 THB

Estimated Total 44,880 - 95,450 Baht

*** MFU reserves the right to adjust tuition fees without prior notice.

Remark: Damage Insurance Fee is a damage deposit. Upon graduation, this deposit will be refunded to the student if there is no outstanding balance on the student’s University account due to damages or any other charge.

: Receive Information

• An interview can be held by telephone or Skype video call. Other documents may be required; in this case, further notification will be sent.

• A list of successful applicants will be announced on website. Applicants will receive an official acceptance letter with the necessary visa request documents and acceptance package via email/post.

: Arrive at the MFU Campus

• Inform the Global Relations Division of your arrival details for pickup services from the Mae Fah Luang - Chiang Rai International Airport or Chiang Rai Bus Station (1 week in advance).

• International students are guaranteed dormitory rooms on campus for their first year of study at MFU.

: Register for Classes

• Submit original copies of all necessary documents to the Registrar Division.

• Full fees must be paid in Thai Baht (THB) currency.
