Covington Trace ER & Hospital, a physician-owned and operated facility, offers concierge-level emergency care to the local community. Led by nine local physician owners, the facility is open 24/7, 365 days a year, with a team of boardcertified emergency physicians providing a range of services, including emergency medical care, overnight inpatient care, pediatric care, and comprehensive outpatient services such as MRI, CT scans, ultrasound, X-ray, Whole Body MRI and lab tests. The facility offers on-site testing at any time, and patients whose tests are covered by insurance can often be seen the same day.
Dr. Matthew Bernard, Chief Medical Officer, discussed the origins of Covington Trace ER & Hospital, stating, “We decided to open Covington Trace ER & Hospital because we believed there was a better way to deliver healthcare to our community. Our focus has always been on aligning our physician owners, staff, and patient care to create a seamless and superior healthcare experience.”
Reflecting on the initial meeting five years ago with another local doctor who is now a silent partner, Dr. Bernard shared, “At the time, I was deeply engrossed in studying winemaking and had anticipated a discussion about vineyards. I arrived in flip-flops, ready for a relaxed conversation over a glass of wine. Little did I know, that meeting would pivot dramatically toward a far more ambitious goal—creating our own hospital. It was a surprising yet thrilling shift that set the foundation for what Covington Trace ER & Hospital is today.”
The goal is to simplify the healthcare process, understanding that “life is busy,” according to Dr. Bernard. “As the first neighborhood ER and hospital in Mandeville, we take pride in providing warm, personalized care.
