Alican graduated from Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL with a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design (Distinction) degree. Prior to his Master’s, he completed his undergrad studies at Istanbul Technical University with a double major degree from Architecture (BArch) and Urban and Regional Planning (BSc). His approach to design focuses both on computational and cognitive gaps between urbanism and architecture while being nourished by a wide range of disciplines from sociology to data visualization. His Master’s design thesis project at The Bartlett, named “Synesthete City”, was focused on data-driven and computational master planning and space-making strategies, based on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. Additionally, his dissertation “Soundscape of the Anthropocene” was dealing with generating new ways to interact with urban soundscapes, with a focus on computational urbanism.
