Apartment units are laid out with the user’s activities in mind, especially working-from-home, thus created a space that is flexible yet set. Loft units utilize high ceiling space with sleeping space upstairs and a big working space downstairs. In the one-bedroom units, a wide table serves both as a working table and dining table, also possible even for hosting a dinner party or a meeting with clients. typology market

Muara Angke Fish Market is the biggest fish market in Jakarta, originally opened on 1980s. But lately the market is facing some problems that causes a decline of the existence of the market itself. The redesign of Muara Angke Fish Market aims to turn fix all the flaws and present a modern and more effective market as the solution. As a fish market, the main function is for economical purpose. But by integrating a recreational purpose to the market, it can improve the market space quality and draw more people there. Incorporating a functional and well-run market, live auction, culinary area, and workshop to create a fish market for everyone. Not just for the ones selling and buying, but also to those who just wants to enjoy a free time exploring the market. 72

73

The story behind the redesign starts from me visiting the current fish market, where I observed variety of shortcomings, from the market layout that is unclear, empty and non-functioning stalls, and the facilities that are lacking. Wet, some foul smell from trash and clogged drains, dirty, and messy. All of those contribute to the unamusing and unwelcoming atmosphere of the market itself.

The idea of this fish market going downhill is disappointing. But there are rooms for improvement here. The fish market is still salvageable with a few tweaks here and there. I want to try and solve these problem and give a new life to the fish market. Hence, the redesign. 74

75

76

With the site located exactly by the water, the building opens mostly toward the sea. Deck, pier, and viewing deck is designed so visitors can enjoy the beauty of natural surroundings. While the other side is mostly used for operational purposes of the market, such as loading dock. The market takes shape of a long block to optimize the site area and increase opening towards the water, with polycarbonate facade that covers all sides and a folded roof resembling ocean waves. 77
