The Happy Side of Nursing Nursing is a very serious job. You hold the lives of many people in your hand on a daily basis. You act as a liaison between doctors and patients, and it's a multi-task job for sure. Yet, as difficult as it is, most nurses would never consider changing careers. They love their jobs. Entertaining Patients The following is retold by Susan, a retired nurse. Mr. X was a patient that I had years ago. He was in the hospital to have a hip replacement, and due to his age, 89, he stayed in the hospital for 8 days. During this time, I looked forward to seeing him every day, he was very entertaining.
