With your generosity, we’re “Creating Opportunities Together.”
Thanks to you, our donors, our 2023/2024 fiscal year perfectly illustrated our Roseland campaign theme: Creating Opportunities Together. Highlights included:
• Overall, we raised $1,022,508, far exceeding our goal for the year, which includes funds for the Roseland Regional Library campaign, as well as funds designated for various branches and projects
• Added five new Board members with diverse backgrounds and skills
• Increased visibility for our Foundation and our mission serving the Sonoma County Library through a variety of different events
• Welcomed two significant lead donors with gifts from the Peter E. Haas Jr. Family Fund and the Community Foundation Sonoma County
• Evolved our name to Sonoma County Library Foundation, to better underscore the close partnership we enjoy with the Sonoma County Library

Libraries must change and at Sonoma County Library, we are leading that change.
That’s why all of us at Sonoma County Library are grateful for the robust and responsive collaboration our Library enjoys with our Foundation and all of you. Together, we are empowered to respond to the call to action we hear from across the county.
The new Roseland Regional Library is a perfect example. Together with the City of Santa Rosa, Sonoma County Library is building a new resource-packed 21st century library as part of the Hearn Community Hub on a 6.5-acre site at Dutton and Hearn Avenues.
Our rallying cry for the Roseland campaign, “Creating Opportunities Together,” emerged synergistically from a process that began with extensive feedback through
Your contributions will have maximum impact in the Roseland community.
We know our donors want to know “What does my contribution make possible? What’s the impact in the community going to be?”
Presently, the Foundation is in the process of raising funds that won’t be expended until we are much closer to ribbon-cutting, projected for early 2027. When the doors open, everyone from toddler to senior will have their own special reasons to come to their new Roseland Regional Library.
The centerpiece of the Roseland campaign is comprised of six priority programming areas Library Director Erika Thibault and her team developed, inspired by feedback from the community.
Welcoming
places for children and families
The opportunity for children and families to spend quality time together in a safe and welcoming place was a top priority in community feedback. Our new library will provide spaces and materials that enrich the experiences of patrons of all ages.
Technology to bridge the digital divide
Removing barriers to opportunities by providing access to the internet, the tools needed to gain that access, and fluency in how to use technology.
Growing sustainability
A current and emerging resilience hotspot, we plan a learning garden and a variety of programs to support resiliency, healthy eating, stewardship, and sustainability.
Collections to honor our diverse cultures
Gathering places to bring us together
More than a place for books, the new Roseland Regional Library will be a place for people. Creativity, flexibility and connectivity will be our inspiration as furnishings are orchestrated in surprising new ways.
Partnerships to open doors
Resources tailored to meet the needs of the Roseland community, with a large percentage of Spanish and bilingual Spanish-English materials for all ages.
The Library will use an asset-based community development model to deliver comprehensive resources in workforce development, immigration, and citizenship. The program will connect library users to a robust network of skilled coaches, consultants, and agencies.
We are proud to list all donors to the Sonoma County Library Foundation since the campaign began. While the overwhelming majority of these gifts are to provide the collection, furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the new Roseland Regional Library, we gratefully acknowledge our donors who support the many other outstanding library branches and resources.
Sonoma County Library Foundation is especially grateful for the leadership gift of $3.5 million from the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria dedicated specifically to construction costs of the new Roseland Regional Library.

FY25/26: $1,200,000 Contributions:
In FY 2023/2024 we raised $1,022,508. The majority of these funds will be used to equip the new Roseland Regional Library after the building is constructed. Other gifts were also made to designated branches and projects.
Meanwhile, the library made two requests which we were pleased to fulfill:
• A grant of $10,000 to help with the cost of the library’s first in-person All-Staff Training Day since 2020. More than 200 staff members participated in the program which focused on patron services and workplace health and safety.
• A grant of $3,500 to help defray the costs of a “library family” program which updated staff and volunteers on the transformative impact of the Measure Y sales tax funds voted in 2016.
We also raised money for specific branches, programs, and projects: Adult Literacy, Santa Rosa branches, Millie Howie Patio, Petaluma*, Sebastopol, Sonoma Valley and Tasting Diversity. (*) Bequest Sources and Uses
