About Indefinite Arts Centre The Indefinite Arts Centre provides artistic training, creation, and exhibition opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. Every week, 300+ artists come through our fully equipped studio space in Calgary. Working alongside talented instructors, our artists are supported and empowered to experience the entire artistic creation process – from conceptualization to exhibition.

About the University of Alberta Alumni Association Formed in 1915, the University of Alberta Alumni Association is a volunteer, non-profit organization of more than 280,000 members. Upon graduation, and without fee, all graduates of the U of A automatically become lifetime members of the Alumni Association.

Rhonda Kottusch “Peacock” Pottery, 6 x 12 x 8 2017

Minimum Bid: 1,800.00 HKD

Rhonda’s artistic style is a direct reflection of her expressive and fearless passion. Rhonda loves to get her hands dirty and is eager to jump into anything. She is influenced by the places and people that surround her, often centring on the idea of community.

Carol loves to create highly detailed works, and while she focuses predominantly on painting she also works in ceramics and sculpture. Her works blend bright and bold combinations of pattern, elements of nature, and fantasy images. Her personal voice and style shows strongly in all that she creates.

Sydney Speers “Racoon” Pottery, 2 x 9 2016

Sydney is vibrant, happy, and full of life while she is in the studio. Her sunny disposition always inserts itself into her work. She is most often found working in the ceramics studio, where she is creating art which is also often bright, colourful, and has a whimsical air to it.

Daniel Janzen “Mater and McQueen” Pottery 2015

Minimum Bid: 1,800.00 HKD

Daniel’s work is fun and lighthearted, and he enjoys the social and communal aspects of being in the studio. He is often inspired by sports, and his favourite movie characters. Though he does some painting, he works principally in ceramics and sculpture, often developing personal interpretations and stories surrounding the characters he depicts.

Meg Ohsada “Three Sisters” Felted Wood, 20x30 2017

Meg’s lighthearted personality and gentle demeanour subtly reveal themselves in her work. Her soft use of colour and textures, and her representations of falling leaves, blossoms, shooting stars, and landscapes at sunset, her works speak of the serene beauty of nature.

Roby King “Chevy” Acrylic, 16 x 20 2016

Roby’s works draw on themes from contemporary narratives depicted in his favourite books, movies and television shows. His art works depict modern interpretations of myths, legends, fairytales all combined, and blended together to present the viewer with exciting new worlds filled with alternative meanings and interpretations. He loves drawing and painting and his work is developed over long periods of time, executing many study drawings and practice compositions before reaching his final piece.

Matt Carberry “Snowscape� Acrylic, 30x36 2016

Matthew works across several mediums including drawing, painting, and digital illustration. His work is inspired by pop culture, and he enjoys character design and development. He often creates sci-fi. and fantasy narratives with monsters, robots, and other characters. During his time with indefinite arts he has worked as an artist in the studio, and eventually also sought formal training through Alberta College of Art + Design, graduating with a BFA in 2016. Matthew currently works as a studio assistant at Indefinite Arts Centre.

Patsy’s works are bright, and stylized representations of animals, people, other things she might encounter in her daily life. Her art works are textural and lively, privileging organic lines. In the studio she most often works in fibre, but can be found doing drawings and paintings as well, she often enjoys taking a moment to dance or make a subtle joke.

Jamie is an artist who loves to use bold colours and strong contrasts in his work. He is determined and precise in his vision, his choice of colour, and his subject matter, often researching to find inspiration for his next piece in his spare time. He primarily works in painting, and loves to share his art with friends and family.

Frances enjoys working in fibre arts, often doing stitching work or rug hooking projects. She is not afraid to take on big projects, and her stylized depictions of the natural world are bright and whimsical.

Wendy’s work illustrates her unique perspective of the world around her. Her works, which are comprised of symbolic objects drawn in repetition and pattern, are influenced by her daily encounters, including the things she sees on her commute around the city.
