Publicist’s Note HELLOOOO INTERACTORS! I hope you’re doing well! For the past two months, a lot happened in Interact, so be sure to look at everything in this newsletter :). A couple of September events will be available to do until the beginning of October! If you’re interested in any events, check out our Facebook group page. A6 Mascot Did you know that… The mascot for Interact Area 6 is the Matcha Manta Ray. Special thanks to Alvin Chau (Independence High School Interact’s co-president) for designing the mascot!

Freshman and Sophomore

Orientation

Tuesday, August 3 Thank you for those who came by our booth during freshman and sophomore orientation! A lot of people signed up and we are extremely excited to see what you’d accomplish in Interact this year.

Club Rush Wednesday, September 8 We truly appreciate everyone who came to our booth during Club Rush! We hope you enjoyed your free Otter Pop if you signed up.

First General Meeting Thursday, September 9 For our first general meeting, we had a fun activity! We hope that everyone who came had a great time. Congratulations to those who won prizes from our activity!

Welcome to Interact Friday, September 24 Thank you for beginning your September break with us! We hope the bonding activities and mock interviews were fun. If you did not know much about Interact before, we hope you learned something new!

Back to School Supply Drive

Friday, September 17 to Friday, September 24 We finally released board applications to make our club’s leadership team larger and give more opportunities to general members! We have already selected our new board members, and we are excited to introduce them soon.

Back to School Supply Drive ONGOING Friday, September 17 to Friday, October 15 We are hosting a school supply drive and we are looking for unused school supplies such as pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks, any kind of paper, crayons, colored pencils, markers, glue, tape, and anything school-related! There is donation box in room K-36! If you have any school supplies that you would like to donate please message: @amandajolievo on Instagram or email her: Amandavo16@gmail.com

INTERARK Teaspoon August Fundraiser

Thursday, August 19 We had a super fun and delicious fundraiser with ARK at Teaspoon! Thank you to everyone who bought a drink and supported us, we really appreciate you all and hope to see you guys at the next fundraiser!

Friday, September 24 Thank you to all the inderactors that supported our Gong Cha fundraiser on Friday September 24th!

Wednesday, September 29 Super huge thank you to everyone that supported our Tastea Fundraiser, 50% of the proceeds went to us! We hope you enjoyed your TASTEA drinks!

August Events Within August 1 to August 31 | Online and In-person Events

Star and Strides Volunteers Host(s): Amanda Vo and Alvin Chau

Volunteers helped out at the Star and Strides Fun Run by either doing handing out t-shirts and bibs to runners or filling and handing out cups of water to runners. The Bloom Energy Stars and Strides walk/run honors and supports Santa Clara County’s frontline medical workers and the communities they serve. All proceeds will benefit the VMC Foundation, a community-driven, nonprofit organization that raises funds in support of Silicon Valley's most vital public healthcare institution - Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Hospitals & Clinics.

Packet Pick Up: Friday, August 20 (3:30PM to 7:30PM) Aid Station Shift: Sunday, August 22 (6:30AM to 10:30AM) Location: 180 Woz Way, San Jose, CA 95110

Face Mask Disposal Host(s): Lynn Nguyen August 15 to August 31

Volunteers implemented the use of masks, especially with the new variants coming out, it is important to prioritize our health and be cautious. And to reduce the crazy amount of masks all over the ground, they properly disposed of the masks.

Children of the Rainbow Park Clean-up

Volunteers dedicated their time to beautifying our the earth and created a cleaner environment for children to play in by cleaning up a Children’s Park.

September Free Rice Host(s): Kha Le September 10 to September 30

Volunteers answered simple trivia questions that donated grains of rice. For every question, they got correct 10 grains of rice would be donated!

Volunteers paused their phones to focus on their tasks while earning digital currency to help contribute to the hunger crisis and donate meals.

Volunteers utilized the app “Charity Mile” by walking, running, or biking to donate money to your charity choice.
