ARF Designer Showhouse By Ashley Ruth O’Connel

and there. It was hard to resist bringing home yet another feisty little tiger (this author has two rescue cats).

The answer to the old children’s ditty: “How much is that doggy in the window?” Well, free, with lots of sloppy kisses, if you attended the Animal Rescue Fund’s (ARF) 6th Annual Designer Showcase. ‘Tis the season for fundraisers, and Memorial Day Weekend boasted a slew of notable causes.

Each room boasted a different feel, with some reminiscent of a camper’s lodge (by Tracey Cavaniola), while others were light, monochromatic and airy. Designers included Nancy Corzine, Lynda Sylvester and the like.

The ARF Thrift & Treasure Shop, located on Montauk Highway in Sagaponack, received a fresh coat of paint, literally. Several established designers were called in to give the six rooms a touch of their own style, using their own goods, as well as items offered in the actual ARF Thrift Shop. Unlike many showhouses, everything was for sale.

One of the most spectacular perhaps was Eldon Wong’s “Dinner at Dogtown Abbey,” where glasses held kibbles and bits in lieu of sorbet and sweets. John Stedila and Tim Button’s country-coral bedroom, with the setting sun peeking through the windows, was tempting enough to move into.

While some events support situations a world away, ARF really brought the feeling home, with a mobile pet van. Several darling cats and dogs eagerly licked guests’ hands, waiting to possibly be adopted right then

Sam Allen’s dressing room was especially great, making use of the iconic orange Hermes gift boxes. Meow! 8

Summer Soundtrack

Lana Del Rey

Many Lana Del Rey fans’ initial encounter with the singer-songwriter was through her DIY video for “Video Games” in 2011. But Del Rey -who filmed and edited the video on her Macbook -- had already been recording music and making moody homespun videos for eight years.

After the release of Honeymoon Lana supporters camped out overnight for in-store album signings in London, NYC, and Los Angeles. Del Rey returned the love by spending over five hours signing autographs at each store.

Jump to 2016, Lana Del Rey is larger than ever. She has sold 8 million albums and her music has been streamed over 1.6 billion times.

Fans also flocked to in-store listening sessions at Urban Outfitters stores across the country when the full album debuted. The retailer reported that first-week sales of the special-cover vinyl outpaced any others in the store’s history.

Currently touring European festivals in support of her latest album Honeymoon, fan reaction has been joyous. Can’t make it to Monaco? You can catch her stateside at Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 28 along with a few dates in California.

The response to Honeymoon continues to be triumphant and shows no signs of stopping. 10

Kesha is set to headline this year’s FOLD (Freak Out Let’s Dance) Festival at Martha Clara Vineyard in Riverhead. The festival, brought to us by Nile Rodgers for its second year, will be held August 12 through August 14. Additional acts include DNCE featuring Joe Jonas, Bette Midler, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, KC & The Sunshine Band, Village People, Doug E. Fresh, DJ Cassidy and more. Kesha’s breakthrough came in early 2009 after appearing on rapper Flo Rida’s number-one single “Right Round.” Her debut album, Animal, and her first extended play, Cannibal, were released in 2010.

a h s e K To Perform At FOLD Festival By Jessica Mackin

Kesha’s music and image propelled her to immediate commercial success, with Animal debuting as the number-one album in the United States. She also achieved two number-one singles, “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R,” and a string of top-ten singles from the album and its re-release. Influenced by various genres and artists, Kesha primarily draws inspiration from music of the 1980s. Madonna, Queen, and Beck have been cited as instrumental to her music.
