The United Kingdom Partnership (UKP) 2016 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
(Q) How would you summarize the mission of the UKP? I would summarize the UKP by the phase, “… a camaraderie of like minded PCA churches networking with UK nationals to facilitate an indigenous and Reformed church planting movement in the UK.” Additionally, the partnership longs to be a servant to PCA congregations, in that it particularly seeks to foster and establish congregation to congregation relationships between PCA churches and UK Church Plants. Once this congregation to congregation relationship is established, the UKP willingly steps aside. The goal of the UKP is not the strength of the partnership itself; rather, to facilitate the enduring strength of the congregation to congregation relationship. (Q) What is the frequency of the UKP meeting? The UKP meets annually for the purpose of networking and resourcing US churches with UK Church Planters. One year the annual meeting will be held in a church in the USA. The next year the meeting will be held in the UK.
The date for the U.S. Meeting this year is Tuesday, October 4, 2016. The tentative dates for our meeting next year in the U.K. are Monday, September 18 - Friday, September 22, 2017. (Q) Does the UKP have a checkbook? The UKP does not have a checkbook of its own. Rather, the individual partnership churches will channel their financial and human resources directly to the particular ministry in the UK, thus creating a unique bond between the two congregations. This bond is the goal of the UKP. The UKP exists solely to introduce, connect and facilitate PCA congregations to UK Church Planting ministry needs. Once this congregation to congregation relationship is established, the UKP willingly steps aside. The goal of the UKP is not the strength of the partnership itself; rather, to facilitate the enduring strength of the congregation to congregation relationship. (Q) Are there membership dues to join the UKP? There are no membership dues or fees to join the UKP. We only ask that a local congregation would identify, select, and begin to establish a relationship with and faithfully fund an indigenous church planter in the UK. The decision making power rests with the local PCA congregation. (Q) How are the financial resources channeled to the ministries? Most congregations will directly wire their financial resources to the ministry organization in the UK.
(Q) Does the work of the UKP run in opposition to the work of Mission to the World (MTW)? Our belief is that though the work of the UKP in fundamentally church planting and essentially indigenous in nature, it does not run counter to the work of MTW. The Great Commission is indeed just that, Great! It is going to take all of us working as an army to facilitate the cause of Christ in the UK and around the world.
