Re: The United Kingdom Partnership Meeting, Tuesday, October 4, 2016, Lookout Mountain Presbyterain Church, Lookout Mountain Tennessee, the United States of America
Dear friends, One of my heroes in the faith is Dr. Howard Hendricks. During my ministry, I have particularly enjoyed his emphasis upon Biblical discipleship. Richie Sessions, a former Senior Minister of our church has stated, “The greatest failure of the church in the 20th Century lies in its failure of discipleship.” Personally, I know that to be true in our day. Dr. Hendricks’s quote elaborates, “When a person makes a confession of faith and is never taken through a formal discipleship process, there is little hope of seeing genuine spiritual transformation.” It is my hope and prayer that a portion of the spiritual fruit we will see over the course of the next generation is that our churches will take seriously the mandate of Biblical discipleship.
