A Poetess at Heart
and Bibliophile by Nature

Amana of Bengaluru set a record of being the youngest poetess. She wrote 61 poems, which were published in a book titled ‘Echoes of Soulful Poems’ by Sapna Book House, at the age of 13 years. IBR talks to this young poetess. mana describes herself as a thirteen-year-old chirpy, curious poet who writes as an alternate to talking given to her introverted nature. Studying in grade 8, she is a bibliophile who has read 600 plus books. Apart from poems, she loves good music and food. Her writing journey started during the first lockdown in 2020. Amana’s poems don’t belong to any particular genre but revolve around her experi-
ences, thoughts, and moods. She draws inspiration from incidents of indifference or injustice, rain if it’s a monsoon evening, or even peace when calm and composed. The majority of her works involve random musings or deep ruminations. Talking about her inspiration, Amana says, “I get inspired from books I read, events I witness, experiences I go through, thoughts that pop it, places I visit, or even people I meet. if you are keen on drawing inspiration for your task.” “I would like to thank my parents, who have been the lampposts of my journey and the ever-abiding silent shadows. Had it not been my mom, I wouldn’t have been writing this here. She is the one who follows up on editing and manages publication,” says Amana. Amana shares a few tips for all the aspiring poets says, “Be patient, consistent, and keep
learning. Neither let success hit you, neither failures get you. Keep reading and write as though you are not writing for accolades but yourself as a mode of expressing. Stay humble and work hard.” Working on her next anthology of poems, she aspires to become an IAS or a cardiologist in the Army but wants to continue writing all her life.
