Maximum videos on financial literacy uploaded by a teen

By Sanjana Bhowmick

Khanak Hajela, all of 14 years made the record for uploading the maximum number of videos on financial literacy. She shared 74 financial awareness videos on her YouTube channel from April 26, 2020, to September 17, 2021, on topics including NEFT, the currency of India, Repo Rate, Economic package on COVID, Digital India, and Banking Operations. hanak is a young socioeconomic activist, who wants to change the world, the way it thinks. She says, “My mission is ‘To Delight’ by providing ‘Right to Choose for Orphans’ I raised funds through an annual event like “Prayas-Ek Nanhi Pehal”A Kathak Dance Charity Show(1000+ Audience). We received a donation of 400Kgs of branded milk powder, tuition fees, study materials, medical equipment, SOC medicines, and articles of their choice.” It took her nearly 5 hours for each episode and she shot more than 74 episodes which comes to approximately 370 hours of shoot time.

As they say, inspiration can strike anytime, all you need to do is be receptive enough to work on your inspiration. For Khanak, YouTube happened during Covid-19 first wave. They noticed that many people were facing difficulties with online payment, including herself, as it became difficult to receive the contribution for her NGO. “To help people who wanted to donate, we recorded and circulated instruction videos. And this became a practice, and I thought I should start a YouTube channel about financial literacy and online payments. And after we touched the 50th episode,” says Khanak. Making the videos was not an easy task. According to

Khanak, the most difficult part was the technique of selfshooting. The sound recording is another challenge as she didn’t have any soundproof rooms. She also learned editing from scratch, as it was a new field for her. With gleaming eyes, Khanak talks about the support she received. “I received a lot of support from my family. My dad helped me enhance the script and gave me moral support. On the other hand, my mom helped me with grammar and supported me

emotionally, and my brother helped me with shooting and editing. .all over, I received a lot of support and love. Few encouraging words by Khanak for future record holders, “I would suggest them to work hard and to stay firm on the path of their passion and not lose hope in the middle.”
