Indian Americans might make up only one percent of the US population but, according to estimates, five percent or more of America’s doctors are of Indian origin. Approximately one in 20 doctors are Indian. They are a vital workforce helping to fill the shortage of physicians in this country.

To put it another way, as Forbes magazine recently did, “your doctor is nine times more likely to be an Indian-American than is a random passer by on the street.” The 52,000 plus Indian doctors working in the US – not counting enormous number of high-performing Indian medical graduates – eventually become some of the top doctors in this country.
