CUSTOM DESIGN & MANUFACTURING REIS-NICHOLS JEWELERS It takes several artisans, each with their own unique skill, to create a single piece of jewelry. It is a traditional art that dates back centuries, yet continues to evolve. Reis-Nichols Jewelers, family owned and operated in Indianapolis since 1919, is respected for having one of the most progressive design and manufacturing studios in the country. The faces—and, more importantly, the hands—behind the jewelry are reflections of the labor-intensive processes involved in creating or restoring small and intricate works of art. 2
FACES OF INDY | 2017
Having such a state-of-the-art facility enables you not only to design and create a piece of jewelry all your own, but also to have jewelry and watch repairs done onsite. “A piece of jewelry is oftentimes a person’s most sentimental and treasured item,” says BJ Nichols, president of Reis-Nichols Jewelers. “Knowing that their valuables are here onsite offers our customers tremendous peace of mind.” There is a story behind every piece of fine jewelry they create. “Our heart and soul goes into it,” BJ says. It’s a labor of love—and one the local artisans at Reis-Nichols Jewelers take very seriously. 3535 E. 86TH ST., INDIANAPOLIS | 317-255-4467 789 U.S. 31 NORTH, GREENWOOD | 317-883-4467 REISNICHOLS.COM

ARCHITECTURAL HOME DESIGN GARY NANCE DESIGN, GARY NANCE, CEO While designing custom homes throughout the country, I saw a void in the market for products that were easy to obtain, high-quality, and affordable. The struggle to find the perfect piece often resulted in sketching my designs and having the items custom made. Clients, designers, even friends would ask me where I found certain hardware or light fixtures, and each time I would send a sketch to get it custom made. I know several designers and homeowners who wait months or sometimes over a year to get the products they want. And now they can get high-quality, American-made products in six to eight weeks. I’ve found many situations where stair spindles haven’t been updated in 30 years. I want to take the headache away for all of us, including interior designers and homeowners. In 2017 I plan to add a variety of other products to the Gary Nance Collection. 4631 LISBORN DR., CARMEL | 317-605-2196 | GARYNANCEDESIGN.COM 8

GOVERNMENTAL LAW GREGORY F. HAHN, ESQ. Greg Hahn’s world centers on the value of relationships. “Every aspect of life comes down to relationships,” Hahn says. “Having a true interest in the person across from me and figuring out how I might be able to help him or her is what motivates me.” Having served clients as an attorney and a registered lobbyist, Hahn has more than 40 years of experience assisting businesses and municipalities in the issues vital to their growth. “Working with municipalities is particularly interesting as governmental entities impact all of us—from economic development, taxes and bonds to clean water and public safety. To listen to leaders in government talk about their goals and challenges, then to help leverage resources to move them toward success ultimately lifts the entire community.” Hahn has served in a number of political positions, including counsel and treasurer for the Marion County Democratic Central Committee. Among Hahn’s many nonprofit roles, he is vice chair of the Central Indiana Community Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the Indianapolis Foundation Board of Directors. He also currently serves as a board member for the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation, Catholic Community Foundation, Inc., The William E. English Foundation and Athenaeum Foundation, among others. 111 MONUMENT CIRCLE, STE. 2700, INDIANAPOLIS | 317-684-5127 | BOSELAW.COM 28

THE FUTURE OF RADIO, NEXTRADIO APP JEFF SMULYAN & PAUL BRENNER Jeff Smulyan, CEO of Emmis Communications, and Paul Brenner, president of NextRadio and TagStation, are changing the way people listen to live, local FM radio, allowing listeners to take radio out of the car and listen on their mobile phones. Smulyan and Brenner are doing this through the development of the NextRadio app, which provides consumers the chance to listen, view, and interact with FM radio. This is not a typical app. It is unique in that it works directly with the FM receiver inside smartphones (which all phones have) as long as that FM receiver has been activated by their wireless carrier or handset maker. The evolution of radio listening through the smartphone has allowed the NextRadio app to gather and provide advertisers with measurement of the effectiveness of radio. The data is now available to brands through the Dial Report which provides data insights on their radio buys. It provides brands with radio listening insights, consumer demographics, and interactions. Next up for the NextRadio team is focusing on putting the app in connected cars. The NextRadio app is a solution for the radio industry that puts the power of radio in the mobile phone—making radio portable so consumers can listen wherever they go. 40 MONUMENT CIRCLE, STE. 500, INDIANAPOLIS | NEXTRADIOAPP.COM 2017 | FACES OF INDY
