SHOW HOME APPROACH: For this year’s Home-A-Rama, we decided to build a modern farmhouse. Large picture windows showcase the views overlooking the Pete Dye-designed golf course and bring the outdoors into the living room. Soft cedar and handmade Carolina brick on the exterior lend an upscale and elegant appearance to the classic farmhouse elevation. Inside, an open floorplan and sophisticated finishes blend harmoniously to make this a truly livable and functional home. From the gorgeous chef’s kitchen, the homeowner can look out toward the living and dining rooms while children do homework or guests mingle. A walk-out basement with daylight windows gives the lower-lever entertainment space a first-floor feel. The living area continues outside with a patio that extends from the master bedroom to the main outdoor-living space.

DESIGNER PHILOSOPHY: Our goal is to partner with clients to create peaceful homes that entice owners to slow down and nourish their souls. Jacqueline K Interior Design’s passion for gracious living infuses textures and layers of color, creating rooms that flow smoothly from one to the next. JKID offers a full range of interior and exterior design, and embraces the idea that design is limitless. Urban Dweller feels design solutions should reflect personal lifestyles and represent the collective aesthetics of individuals or families. Visual interest and a sense of calm can be achieved by blending new items with artful, treasured objects collected throughout life’s journey. Urban Dweller creates spaces that homeowners will love and enjoy every time they cross their thresholds. SHOW HOME APPROACH: This modern farmhouse beckons you to step inside. The soft white facade, aged brick, and cedar creates a sophisticated elegance. We felt it important to carry that same appeal to the interior, infusing impressive details where needed, giving each space an eclectic, artistic finishing touch. Adding exterior elements such as stone, wood, and metal to the interior grounds the home. Organic and textural finishes capture the eye and bring a feeling of calm. This home is current with a nod to the classic farmhouse, blending timeless design with today’s modern conveniences. SEPTEMBER 2018 | HOME-A-RAMA

SHOW HOME APPROACH: With the success of our process, it’s no surprise Old Town Design Group is the only homebuilder to showcase client homes in three out of the last five Home-ARama tours. Our homeowners, Jim and Maureen, are empty nesters who wanted to take advantage of every view available. Whether they’re walking in the door, standing on the secondfloor balcony, or entering the pocket office, it’s obvious that the stunning views were the primary focus during the design process. As a couple that loves to entertain, Jim and Maureen wanted to focus on the main-level open floorplan with the conveniently located wine room and large, covered porch directly off the dining room. As grandparents, Jim and Maureen wanted a space reserved for their grandkids. We’ve created a second level with built-in custom bunkbeds that sit alongside an open game room and study.

featured unspoiled beauty in its trees, hills, and waterways. And they knew they wanted to preserve it. “It’s so unique for Central Indiana, and certainly Hamilton County, to find rolling terrain with peaks and valleys, so it’s a huge compliment when people say they feel like they are somewhere else when the see how it climbs and falls,” says Betsy Henke Garfield of Henke Development Group.

With nearly 75 feet of elevation change throughout, the mix of terrain offers homeowners the ability to choose their own backyard vistas. Whether they prefer a view of the golf course, a tree-lined creek, or a rolling hillside, homeowners can work with 13 builders contracted to design custom homes on their desired settings. From empty nester lots to grand estates, homes in the development range anywhere from $500,000 to $2 million. While the idyllic scenery described seems far from civilization, the neighborhood’s location near U.S. 31 and 191st Street provides quick access to nearby shopping and restaurants. But with top-notch amenities, many of which play off the natural features of the land, there aren’t many reasons to venture outside the community.

APPRECIATE THE HISTORY A refurbished 1830s red barn and red-brick house are historic highlights of Chatham Hills. Sitting atop a hill that overlooks the golf course’s 16th hole and valley below, the Lindley Farmstead was home to seven generations of early Westfield settlers dating back to the 1800s.
While the neighborhood has plenty of land occupied by homes and other man-made amenities, more than 250 acres of dedicated green space afford residents every opportunity to spend time outdoors. Walking and biking paths wind throughout the development and connect to the Monon Trail. Land once used for farming is currently being reforested to add to the already-plentiful shaded trails. The developers didn’t forget about your four-legged pal, either. Family pets can enjoy afternoon playtime in the 15-acre private dog park, which boasts a swimming hole. And it’s all strategically placed to afford residents stunning views they can’t find anywhere else in Hamilton County.

quickly blossomed into a booming destination for visitors and residents, with exciting new additions continuing to pop up. From breweries and wineries to miles and miles of paved trail systems to chic boutiques, Westfield has places to dine, play, and shop for gals, guys, and families alike.
Westfield’s many parks and nearly 86 miles of trails are begging to host your family for a day of hiking, biking, and picnicking. Grand Park, a hub for youth sports, is also home to more than 10 miles of pedestrian foot and bike trails, including a portion of the Monon Trail. The abundant green space, concession stands, and covered shelters make it easy to go on a planned or impromptu picnic. If you’re looking for a broader mix of scenery, 90 acres of woods, wetlands, and prairies within Cool Creek Park offer plenty of opportunities to see wildlife. Take an educational break from the heat to pop into the nature center to check out the exhibits or buy a native plant from the greenhouse. A connected system can take you to other trails in the area, such as Grassy Branch Trail, Natalie 24

Wheeler Trail, and Midland Trace Trail, for an active way to explore the town. Because all that time spent outdoors will earn you a hearty meal, recharge and refuel at the Local Eatery and Pub. With menu items ranging from milkshakes and pasta to hot chicken and Korean bulgogi, this farmto-table spot balances family-friendly standards with more exotic eats.
Cap off the day with some history and ghost stories via UnseenPress. The Haunted Underground Railroad Walking Tour in Westfield inspired the company to expand their Indiana Historic Indiana Ghost Walks and Tours business. A Haunted Union Street Walking Tour is also available. Or, you can combine both to treat your family to three hours of folk tales and haunted locales.

cute trinkets—think graphic tote bags and punny wall art—Unraveled Boutique carries great gift options or treat-yourself presents. After a long day of shopping, share a toast at Urban Vines, an all-in-one winery, brewery, tasting room, and vineyard. You can opt for indoor tastings, or grab a seat on the outdoor patio overlooking the meadow and vineyard. On the weekends, you’ll find this is a good spot for live music. For a unique dining experience, check out Chiba. Tucked away in a rehabbed house off “Restaurant Row,” the sushi bar draws inspiration from its original New Orleans location to bring an unexpected international flavor to the neighborhood. Another hidden gem is Rail Epicurean Market, where quaint, small-town charm mixes with well-plated, sophisticated fare. From burgers to duck frites to shakshuka, this barn-turned-restaurant is a good option for lunch or dinner.

Fuel up with pre-golf donuts at Titus Bakery, a third-generation, family-owned shop specializing in baked goods. The most popular item on the menu is the pershing—essentially a maple-glazed cinnamon roll—but you can’t go wrong with an award-winning glazed, either. Afterward, spend the morning enjoying the 18-hole championship golf course at Wood Wind Golf Club, with Westfield’s country setting as an added backdrop. Next up, visit a couple of the town’s key watering holes. Grand Junction Brewing Company has two locations to choose from— a traditional brewpub downtown and the tap room near Grand Park. Both serve the company’s core line of European-influenced brews and rotating, limited-edition specialties. Enjoy a full menu at the downtown location, or opt for more laid-back food-truck options at the tap room on weekends. The newest brewery on the scene in Westfield is Field Brewing, which recently wrapped up renovations. In addition to a line of craft beer, an on-staff chef and large, floor-to-

brought with him a flair for traditional, Caribbean-style smoked barbeque, and plenty of pirate-themed decor. Try the El Segundo, a combination of jasmine rice, mac and cheese, pulled pork, and spicy mayo; or a Barbeque Sundae, your choice of smoked meat and sauce on a bed of baked beans.

Founded in 1999 by president and CEO Dave Becker, First Internet Bank is headquartered in Fishers, but has customers in all 50 states who conduct their personal and business banking transactions from anywhere. First Internet Bank was built on a culture of people, processes, and technology, and constantly seeks new ways to improve the products and services it offers. “Our industry is one that continues to evolve and—while those changes are exciting—it is important to stay customer focused, and that’s what we feel we have done very well,” Quinn says. First Internet Bank takes the mystery out of mortgage loans by walking prospective buyers through the process, helping them identify the mortgage that meets their needs,

and making sure they get to the closing table on time with the knowledge that they have a solid institution behind them. “There is a big difference between being pre-qualified and pre-approved for financing,” Quinn says. “Pre-approval carries with it a certain clout and tells your builder or agent that your documents are in order, they have been reviewed and your bank is ready to commit.” Quinn says First Internet Bank is proud to present the 2018 Home-A-Rama at Chatham Hills this fall and feels it is a great opportunity to showcase its commitment to both residential mortgage and commercial lending in Central Indiana. “We offer the full package of products and services for both the customers and the builders. No matter if you are ready to buy, build or refinance, we are ready to help customers move on to their first, next or second American dream. It’s an exciting time to be in the real estate market in Central Indiana, and we are pleased to be part of it,” he says. SEPTEMBER 2018 | HOME-A-RAMA
