ISU reflects on Iraq war Aaron Abel Reporter
When Vern Bothwell was in the Navy, there was a wide range of opinions about U.S. military involvement in Iraq and every other conflict he remembers. Bothwell, who is now an aviation technology instructor at ISU, said there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the war—even as President Barack Obama announced all U.S. troops would be withdrawn from the country by December. “And if there’s one thing I know, it’s that I don’t know,” Bothwell said. “And politicians don’t know, either. They don’t know how stable or well-equipped the Iraqi government is, and yet they’re making judgments on something they know nothing about.”
