Students participate to bring wind turbine to campus Aaron Abel Reporter
Indiana State University is calling for student involvement as it kicks off its Sustainability Speaker Series today. Professor Jim Speer will give the first presentation over the windmill project at noon in HMSU 421. ISU’s Institute for Community Sustainability plans to unveil the wind turbine on campus for Earth Day on April 21. Since the fall semester of 2010, students have been seen standing with their faces to the wind while clutching little red gadgets in outstretched arms. In doing so they’ve significantly helped determine the precise location to place the 30-foot tall, 3.4-kilowatt wind turbine, which will not only serve as an alternative source of energy, but also as an educational project as well as a symbol for ISU’s growing interest in sustainable solutions.
