Gandhi Jayanti celebrated in Brisbane
M
embers of the Indian community in Queensland celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on Mahatma Gandhi's 152nd birthday on October 2 at Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane. Officials from GOPIO Queensland as well as Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) were present at the event. Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated by Indians to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and it is one of the three national holidays of India. The UN General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that 2 October will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.

ndian community gathered at Sunnybank on October 9, 2021 to support Simply Human Superheroes without Capes, a Not For Profit organisation raising awareness of cancer. Among the supporters of this event who made it a success were Senator Paul Scarr who sponsored the Celebrating Superheroes Without Capes 2021 event. The Simply Human team expressed their gratitude to all the attendees, event partners and sponsors thus, “We are grateful to all our speakers: Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM, Prof Ajay Rane OAM, Ms Rita Prasad-Ildes & Ms Akashika Mohla for sharing their inspiring journeys and giving us the much needed dosage of motivation to keep us going.
