Gandhi Jayanti celebrated in Brisbane
Members of the Indian community in Queensland celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on Mahatma Gandhi's 152nd birthday on October 2 at Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane.
Officials from GOPIO Queensland as well as Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) were present at the event.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated by Indians to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and it is one of the three national holidays of India. The UN General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that 2 October will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.
