Queensland Olympic and Paralympic athletes welcomed back in Brisbane

ueensland Olympic and Paralympic athletes were given a welcome home parade through Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall on October 8, after a successful medal haul from the 2021 Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo. Queensland’s athletes brought home 22 gold medals, 12 silver and 22 bronze over the two major events. All returning Queensland athletes have now had enough time to return to the country and complete their quarantine. The parade started at 2:30pm, making its way down Warwick Street and into Herbert Street, stopping at the Allora Regional Sports Museum before heading to the Allora Sports Club. The event feature “a good oldfashioned street parade replete with banners, streamers and an open-top car“. There was a reception at City Hall, and there also were BBQ and drinks.
