With the T20 World Cup beginning soon in Australia, the anticipation has already started to build in the sunshine state. On 15 July, former Australian cricketer Shane Watson and current T20 star Adam Zampa brought the trophy to Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane along with school kids as part of the T20 World Cup launch. The event was attended by Queensland Cricket CEO Terry Svenson, Brisbane City Council Deputy Mayor Cr. Krista Adams, Rugby League legend Wally Lewis, Barmy Army leader George, officials from Cricket Australia, Queensland government’s Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport, Australia India Business Council, Rostron Carlyle Rojas and the print and electronic media. Dr. Ashutosh Misra, CEO of the Institute for Australia India Engagement, Editor-in-Chief of India News and National Sports Chair, AIBC has been appointed the T20 Champion by Cricket Australia. He attended the event and interviewed Shane Watson about India’s and Australia’s chances of winning the world cup. Australia will be defending their title on home turf against 15 other teams, with matches being played all over the country starting in mid-October.
