Doctor’s move to “big city” Springfield fruitfully

reater Springfield doctor Sundhar Narayan’s move to a “big city” has allowed him to proudly serve his community and live a life of luxury. Dr Narayan, works at My Life Medical Brookwater General Practice, and moved to Springfield Lakes more than a decade ago. He most recently relocated to Brookwater. “We initially thought of buying a house close to Mount Gravatt as it was close to all the hospitals and Brisbane City. However, we heard the Greater Springfield area was going to be the next ‘big city’, and a lovely place to live,” Dr Narayan said.
“My wife Vanitha and I decided to compromise a little bit, which meant I had to travel every day to the city but have a lovely home to come to after work, and with no regrets. “We purchased our first home, the only home we inspected. It was such a nice home, and we moved in”. Together the couple built their “dream home” at Brookwater on a big block of land in 2018. “Whenever we drive back to Brookwater it’s so green and we love seeing nature. We see kangaroos in our backyard, lorikeets, and the kookaburras wake us every day,” he said.
“We have a nice golf frontage and when it rains it looks like we live in a rainforest.” Dr Narayan said his family enjoyed their dream home in Brookwater, and their neighbours were “very lovely”. While he enjoys serving the local Greater Springfield community, Dr Narayan also works as an Intensive Care Unit doctor at Saint Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital once a week and is looking to start a cosmetic business in Brookwater with his wife, who is also an interior decorator. “I enjoy my profession and I’m glad it has worked out well by
practising in the same suburb,” he said. The couple have two children, Nikhil, 12.5, and Riya Rani, 4.5, both who attend The Springfield Anglican College. A keen badminton player, Dr Narayan enjoys a game with friends every Saturday. “It’s great for my social life and keeping myself fit,” he said. “I go for a walk with my wife most days, enjoying the Brookwater greeneries and the hills”. He said the area had changed significantly in the last 10 years. “There was almost nothing except for Orion Shopping Centre and a few small shops, including
Springfield Fair,” he said. “Now this place has transformed into one the busiest places and looks like West End.” Compared to 2010, Greater Springfield has transformed into a large residential and business investment place. "I would like to invest more in this area – buying investment properties and business investments, and if we get the opportunity I will establish a GP surgery in this area," he said. "The population when we moved in 2010 was about 2000 now in 2020 it's nearly 47,000. I never imagined this place would grow this huge.
