‘Springfield Lakes Fast Growing and developing City’ –working mother Mandeep Kaur

For the past five years Mandeep Kaur and her husband Ramandip Singh have lived at Springfield Lakes, drawn to the area’s growing masterplanned community.

Mrs Kaur, the director of My Choice Visa Advisers, said the “fast growing and developing city” had numerous facilities including major shopping centres, parks and a train station.

She said everything was within walking distance from her home, including childcare centres and schools.

“Some shops and health facilities are just a couple of minutes’ drive away,” Mrs Kaur said.

“I love that we, as a family, have access to all these facilities here in Greater Springfield. We even have entertainment resources including a cinema, Timezone arcade, swimming lagoon, and Pink Park at Orion shopping centre.”

The mother-of-three said: “When we bought a house here, we knew everything was here and the kids wouldn’t have to travel far to get to places”.

“I work from home mostly, and my husband works at Brookwater. Greater Springfield is impressive. All the facilities are here and we don’t have to leave,” Mrs Kaur whose children are aged 10 (Ravneet Kaur), 5 ( Japneet Kaur) and 2 (Ajeet Singh).

Mrs Kaur said her friends often asked why she rarely ventured out of Greater Springfield.

“I tell them I don’t have to as I can get everything for myself and my family right here in Springfield,” she said.

“I sometime use public transport to go to the city and the hospital for the kids’ appointments. It’s very easy to park and catch a train from Springfield Central Station.”

Springfield City Group Education and Health Services director Meera Honan said there were plans to build 11 new schools by 2036 in Greater Springfield.

They would include single sex (separate girls and boys from Prep to Year 12), an international school offering the International Baccalaureate, as well as additional state primary and secondary schools

Mrs Honan said the proximity of schools to students’ homes allowed families to enjoy a 15 minute lifestyle.

“Everything is 15 minutes from their home. They can live, learn work and play here. This in turn maximises the time residents can spend on the important things in life rather than commuting,” Mrs Honan said.

Mrs Kaur’s family welcomed the news of more educational facilities in Greater Springfield and said it would enhance the region greatly.

She added they would like to see even more health facilities developed, including specialist services for children including speech, and hearing.
