It is an occasion for Australian and Indian leaders to reaffirm their commitment towards finding more areas of cooperation and to work towards developing cultural exchange between the two countries. Key areas related to culture that have often been highlighted comprise Indian cuisine and Bollywood films that have always been as popular in India as outside it. However, other areas related to culture such as cultural artefacts, fine arts, and the folk arts are becoming increasingly popular in Australia. One area that India is yet to explore fully is to trace historical connections with the aboriginal inhabitants of Australia and create new connections with them in a bid to help grow and preserve the cultural legacies of both countries. Moreover, India being a country that still makes use of traditional techniques in agriculture along with modern means, will find many areas of similarity between them and the Australian aboriginal communities insofar as the traditional ways of seed cultivation, water management, and mental health are concerned. A cultural exchange with them will help both the countries to utilise from each other’s traditions for augmenting economic growth as also in disaster management, saving lives, and building communities.
