BSQ celebrates Durga Puja with grandeur and luxury

Bengali Society of Queensland celebrated Durga Puja at Coorparoo Secondary College on 30th September, 1st October and 2nd October. This was a special year for BSQ as it marks its 25th anniversary. Over 3500 guests, participants and members participated in the celebrations over these three days, immersed in the luxury of Sharadiya festivities.

The celebration commenced on 30th September with “ghot prothisthan” and lighting of the lamp by Councillor Angela Owen. Councillor Owen declared and wished “Sharadiya Subheccha” to 650 participants on that night.

Choir Performance by BSQ Community in front of 250 audiences.

BSQ arranged a cultural night on Saturday, 1st October and successfully upheld the Bengali culture in Brisbane.

There was a Bengali folktheatre ( jatra) presented by BSQ community members on stage on the theme of #metoo. A detailed puja was arranged and conducted on 30th September, 1st October and 2nd October which brought back Puja memories of Bengal.

On the 25th Anniversary, BSQ arranged a fair called “ Anandamela” to encourage local entrepreneurs in a typical Bengali tradition.

The grandeur and luxury was spiced up by the sumptuous ‘bengali’ lunch and dinner prepared in house and served on all three days and evenings to all the participants and members. It was soon followed by an electrifying performance of Kerala drummers; the drum beats brought every one on their feet to shake a leg. There were mesmerising performance by “Sonchari group and Sangeet

Music Academy”. There were BSQ community talent who presented through songs, dance and band performance which left audiences spell bound. Over three days BSQ community had a splendid and admirable Durga Puja celebrations. BSQ wishes all its members, guests , participants , sponsors, brisbane city council, partner organisations a very successful future.
