The Importance of Bar/Bat Mitzvah Invitations Cards

Bar/Bat Mitzvah invitations cards are presented to friends and family at a very important moment in the life cycle of a Jewish man and woman. A Bar and Bat mitzvah ceremony is celebrated for boys and girls when they reach age 12. The ceremony is an integral part of the Jewish faith. Bar and Bat Mitzvah means “Son and Daughter of the Commandment.

In Jewish culture, children assume a higher maturity level after they reach age 12. It is at this age it is deemed the child is able to connect to the teachings in the Torah and his or her Jewish identity and God. It is also assumed that at this age, the child is at a crossroads of spiritual and moral decision making. As you can imagine, this is a significant rite of passage in the Jewish faith.

According to the Jewish holy book Torah, a Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremony must be held for the respected boy or girl once they’ve reached the age of 12. It is celebrated with a religious ceremony at the synagogue which also includes reading verses from the Torah. After the religious ceremony, a party or celebration is held. This can be very grand or something very simple, but it is a celebration nonetheless.

What happens at a bar or bat mitzvah celebration? After the religious ceremony is completed, the guest of honor and his or her friends and family begin celebrating with revelry. It starts with cutting of a cake which depicts what is meaningful to the child and his or her family.

After the cake is cut, best wishes and gifts are exchanged and the young boy or girl is celebrated. There is also a lot of dancing and eating of a specially prepared Kosher meal. Even though this is a Jewish celebration that mainly involves the child’s family, friends from other faiths are also invited to partake. A bar and bat mitzvah celebration is similar to a Sweet 16 or quinceneara celebration except with a religious component.
