NEW YORK: The outcry against the new Government of India rules for overseas Indians who have become naturalized citizens of other countries gathered pitch when several members of the community from the Tri-state area gathered outside the Indian Consulate in New York on
May 26 for a vociferous but peaceful demonstration. For almost two hours, the demonstrators, among them many senior citizens, stood on the sidewalk along Central Park on 5th Avenue and 64th Street, holding placards which read "Don't force fees on us" "Repeal passport surrender fee" and "Respect our rights", while shouting in unison, "We are all Indians".
