CHICAGO: Sikhs are a warrior community but are more known for their act of chivalry, sacrifice and martyrdom. This was well demonstrated on Sunday August 5 at Oak Creek near Milwaukee when a crazy gunman armed to the teeth began shooting randomly at the Sikh worshippers. Strode out then the temple president Satwant Singh Kaleka, confronting the gunman only with his kirpan.

White Supremacist Wade Michael Page didn't expect any resistance when he walked into the Wisconsin gurudwara brandishing a 9-millimeter handgun. But he didn't account for Satwant Singh Kaleka. The FBI said he attacked the shooter in the lobby, resulting in a "blood struggle." The better armed shooter shot Kaleka at close range. But for this act of heroism, the crazy shooter would have killed many more. "He slowed the shooter enough so other people could get to safety," said his son Amardeep. A bloodied kirpan lay close to Kaleka's body. Details on page 5
