Our Inspiration ...

Life, an ageless beauty Since time immemorial the world has rested and founded itself on three most important things..Trust, Honesty and Hope.. This is my personal belief... and my life is what it is only because I believed in this axiom and lived up to it. All my life I had people come and go by the thousands..some who broke my trust and yet others who went out of their way to help me find my lost trust again, when life was going through hopeless times people who held me until hope filled my mind again..and above all I stood by my honesty and the just ways I believed in always…keeping my life an open book with nothing to read between the lines or free of any torn or erased pages. Today after years of living my life, my belief in the above has gone up manifold and as the years passed I tried my best to spread the same belief across to all those people who touched my life in different ways at different times..Standing by people no matter what, trusting them no matter what and living on hope with the most positive attitude no matter what ...is the only way to live life. As years went by I also realized that life is the only thing we have got which belongs to us exclusively and the principles we model it on is left entirely to us…As we are the sole creators of a good, bad or happy or sad life..the circumstances that we create and those that are created by others around us become easy to deal with if we have our own ideas, principles and path to follow..if I am going to trust, love and believe others no matter what I will keep doing so irrespective of the fact that those that I choose to trust, love and believe in, may not have the same attitude towards me...at the end it's their loss when they fail to take what is on offer.. With passage of time, I also realized that there's always another tomorrow waiting for us..till we die there's always hope to realize our dreams, to achieve our goals, to find what we want, to live another day..this tomorrow is the most powerful tool that we have and none of us should waste it in despair just because we have had a sad and lost yesterday..I learnt to live everyday with the hope that there is tomorrow and it's going to be better than today..it will bring me closer to all my unfulfilled dreams and desires..and if this life is not enough I always will have another life to fulfill them, realize them.. As this life is too beautiful to just live the way it is..withit's ups and downs, it's crazy ways, it's mysterious unfolding moments.. When I look back I realize that I was as happy and contented in the earlier days of my life when one simple salwar khameez bought for Diwali (Jo meri nazaronke saamne se abhi bhi nahi jaata) as I am today with all my designer Rudraksh collection...I was as happy traveling in an auto as I am today in my various modes of transport..it's probably because that time also I believed in life and loved my life and today also believe and love my life... Let me end by a quote I formed a few days back...MY DREAMS ARE BEAUTIFUL..MY REALITY EQUALLY BEAUTIFUL..LET ME ENJOY MY TODAY AND MY DREAMS TO BE ENJOYED ANOTHER DAY…

Dr. Tarita Shankar Founder Secretary - SCES Chairperson - Indira Group of Institutes

Principal's Address We are all poised on the threshold of history where the economy as well as the system of education is witnessing a series of changes which are unprecedented. In the present turbulent times, India has emerged as a powerful nation on the world map. That the youth of India must be prepared for the future challenges is the need of the hour. It's a Herculian task. We at Indira College of Commerce & Science endeavor to equip our students with all the skill-sets required to face the challenges of life. While striving to achieve this, we must also remember, “Man is neither mere intellect, nor the gross animal body, nor the heart or soul alone. A proper and harmonious combination of all these three is required for the making of the whole man and constitutes the economics of education. M. K. Gandhi In India, the city of Pune is famous for its quality education imparted in the renowned educational institutions. Indira College of Commerce & Science is one of them. Here the student community is privileged and feels inspired by the multicultural atmosphere and academic excellence of its teaching faculty. Along with academics, students are given opportunities to develop and discover their talents in co-curricular activities. The campus has best of the facilities and IT enabled infrastructure to realize their potential. At Indira we provide competitive and challenging educational environment which demands continuous update of knowledge, information and technology. Education here is focused on the overall growth of a student transforming him into a confident, capable and decisive individual who can translate his dreams into reality. The aim is to foster good values and make him a responsible citizen of India and of the world community at large. Editorial “To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge.. -Benjamin Disraeli This is Third ICCS College Magazine which would certainly improve inter-departmental knowledge sharing and recognition of all the achievers, be it in academics or extracurricular activities. This would further strengthen bonding among 'Indiraites' who are part of one family. It required earnest endeavors from all members of editorial team to show their journalistic skills for understanding content and managerial skills for creating an editorial strategy. But it could not have been created without great enthusiasm shown by our own students who are voice of future and possess limitless talent which is also showcased in this magazine. We had some criteria for selecting entries and that is why some articles could not be selected. But that does not mean that they were less deserving or lacked content. It's just that they were not fitting here. We hope this magazine makes an interesting read for all of you. We would be happier to receive your valuable feedbacks and suggestions.

English Lonely Man… Lonely man in the world Has mother and father but they see him Only at the dinner! Lonely man in the world Has brothers and sisters But they ask him Only with the letters! Lonely man in the world Each time gets a friend But they all convert foe in the end! Lonely man in the world Has only dearer Ah ! but he never comes Out of the mirror! Prof. Nandkumar Shinde Lect. Only For You… Dying at the college gate I am waiting alone for you My heart is beating I know the time of our meeting My attendance in college and Visit to the library are only for you I think my way to success depends, Only on you. My life depends on you, When you are not with me, I am eager to meet you, But when you are with me, I am in hurry to leave you. When I remember you, I forget my self too, Oh! Dear "Examination" I am waiting for you… Ashwini Vethekar F.Y.B.Sc. (Comp.Sci.) IT NEVER COMES AGAIN These are gains for all our losses, There are blames for all our pains, But when youth, the dream departs, It takes something from our hearts, And it never comes again. We are stronger and are better Under manhood's sterner reign Still we feel that something sweet Followed youth with flying feet, And it never comes again. Something beautiful is vanished, And we sign for it in vain, We behold it every where, On the earth and in the air, But it never comes again. Mayur Biche T.Y.B.Com.

TIME On this earth Have a lot of minerals When seeds are sown They become seedling When we feed them, they will be huge trees A butterfly lays eggs Become caterpillars Feeding life in a cocoon Gets a chance to live Comes out as a beautiful butterfly Mixed genes Father's and mothers A baby is born Love, affection and feeding Growing into an obedient child However with time Everything changes Like an express train! Jesseca Sudarshani Cyril Xavier F.Y. B.B.M. (IB)

LADY BIRD Twit! Twit! Over the canopy Leap, leap from shoot to shoot Beat! A Beat - Bobbing up and down Shuttles there in a jiffy "Why are you in a hurry" I ask, "Listen I tell you" told the "break" "I have no time to pass in vain There are sweet chicks to be born But see my fellow - a lazy codger Sits on that leaf in fine featber.' She changed her tune; Twit! Twit! Twit! All the way you look ahead, Again I see this high - handed And lofby lady bird Flying heavily to the field. Jesseca Sudarshani Cyril Xavier F.Y. B.B.M. (IB)

THE LIFE Life is a game We all have to play Rarely in groups Sometimes in pairs But mostly alone. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose But always everyone Wants to reach the top By hook or by crook The game may be fair Or may be unfair But we have to confront Everything with care Always almost victory is rare We must obey the rules and use every tool Known as courage, attempt and goal Have to use the heart and brain So victory is sure, no chance to fail. Jesseca Sudarshani Cyril Xavier F.Y. B.B.M. (IB)

COLLEGE DAYS…

RAILWAY TRACK In a railway station People invariably flock together To rach their destinations The main railway track is laid Through a gloomy tunnel inside The main track forts into two And one of these wheels Onwards into darkening hills and The other towards distant seas. Resurrection of the soul after death is believed But it isn't clearly known Yet, some talk through realization By going deep into spiritual revelations We realize one thing There's good or there is bad Good may lead towards blissful destination While bad may take the other turn There's a crowd at the station We don't know whether they would travel Towards noctarnal hills or distant seas.

Jesseca Sudarshani Cyril Xavier F.Y. B.B.M. (IB)

Carrying a mind of knowledge, I stepped to my college. People were new, Boys were few, No place to sit, Where to Fit…?? Nothing ends here, For what to fear, Always to guess what will be Next…?? With old friends to sit and Text…!! Sitting at first, With a throat of Thirst… Coming for Prac, Jokes to Crack, Moving like hunk, Lectures to bunk, Seminars in hall, Attendance to Fall… Library of Book, To sit and Hook, Lectures means sleeping time, If it's done is it a Crime…?? Grooving our skills, Paying canteen Bills… Popular in Days, Finding new Ways. Creating Heights, Days of Fights. Stepped the Haste, Making the best… Peoples of Faith, Started to Hate. Things Go Blue, Now What to Glue…?? No one was Near, With a Heart of Fear… To reach the sky, I aim to Fly. To Have That Wings, To live Like Kings. To Find The Ways, For the Lavish Days… Nothing Should Lack, To get things Back. Nothing to be Grey, For All that I Pray. Never to let others go Down, To Make Their Part Like A Crown… Oh...!! God Be there Always and Now, For I should say Hurray and Wow…!! To All my Friends, Life Never Ends. To Get the Things, Get Those Wings. As Life is a mystery of how, what and why…?? Nothing to Say than a Simple GOOD BYE… Pranshu Jaiswal F.Y.B.C.A.

THINK POSITIVE Today is going to be a great day! I can handle more than I think I Can! Things don't get better by worrying about them! I can be satisfied if I try to do my best! There is always something to be happy about! I am going to make some one happy today! It is not good to be down! Life is great, make the most of it! Mayur Biche T.Y.B.Com.

LIFE What is life no one knows? We still live it from the time, The sun rise, Sorrows and pleasures all Come our way, They come and go from Day to day Loved by friends and Hated by goes, Yet what is life no one Knows? Appreciated and respected Until you do something Unexpected Yet it is suspected that What it is life no one knows? We still like it from the time The sun rise!!

Mayur Biche T.Y.B.Com.

WHY??? Sometime life seems a big mystery Just watching how they are But not how we are Commenting others even good in their own way We see beautiful scenes and nature But not on our own If we see, give time else A big hidden sense and natures are As god gift have some unique ideas and creativity Just give a time to open and let it out But the question is why?? Why the world is not as before? Changes coming in their characters, attitudes Why our own besties passing comments, Being jealous, helpless? Why no care, no love, No co-operation, no positive attitude? Why?? Why?? Why?? Richa Mahato S.Y.B.B.A.

PAPER PLANE Long are the dreams gone out the window? Folded and thrown like a paper plane. Blown by the wind, away from the shore, Never to return through the window pane. Broken by the world, shattered into pieces, They were the drug making my life insane. They gave life worth, they gave life meaning, Din't let me feely lonely walking an empty lane. They gave me strength, they gave me hope, They gave me light under clouds of rain. If world is diff, dreams are the ladder, And from new dreams you can rise again. I will rise again; my dreams will come back, Like the wind gives wings to a paper plane…! Pankaj Singh F.Y.B.B.M. (IB)

FOR A WONDERFUL TEACHER I can't express my feeling about you, But I am still trying to do so. Only because you have given me the power to imagine. You always have been a source of Inspiration for me. Only you inspire me to do my best. In each and every stage of life, You have guided me. And I know whenever I will be alone Then your guidance will help Me to find the way. You have helped me to set my goals. And with your guidance, One day I will be able to achieve All which I have set…… With your encouragement, I can overcome any hindrance which Comes in my way. You have guided me in every stage. Whenever I thought I am worthless; you were always there to encourage me. You are the guiding star for me. Thank you for all that you have done for me. And I know that you are always With me to guide me…

LIFE Life is a very simple word, But it is hard to understand. Life is a one word name for, Love, care, mercy, sympathy. Some people; live for love and others; love for living. In everyone's life there are UPS and DOWNS‌. And, one who has learned to live happily at any stage of life, only they knows the meaning of life. True loves make life a boon; but a false love makes life hell. Life is like a mystery‌. Easy to get in but hard to get rid of it. Life can be lived happily when, One has learned to cheer someone else.

Global cloud traffic will increase 12-fold by 2015 Krunal A Chandratre M.Sc. Comp. Sci. (SEM II) This document gives information about global cloud computing traffic will grow 12-fold from 130 exabytes to reach a total of 1.6 zettabytes annually by 2015. Now what is cloud computing "The concept, quite simply, is that vast computing resources will reside somewhere out (rather than in your computer room) and we'll connect to them and use them as needed. Keywords- Global, Cloud computing, Traffic Cloud is the fastest growing component of data center traffic, which itself will grow 4-fold at a 33 percent CAGR to reach 4.8 zettabytes annually by 2015. Cloud is also estimated today to be 11 percent of data center traffic, growing to more than 33 percent of the total by 2015. Cloud is becoming a critical element for the future of information technology (IT) and delivery of video and content. Layers of cloud computing:-

The vast majority of the data center traffic is not caused by end users but by the data centers and clouds themselves undertaking activities that are largely transparent to end users - like backup and replication. By 2015, 76 percent of data center traffic will remain within the data center itself as workloads migrate between various virtual machines and background tasks take place, 17 percent of the total traffic leaves the data center to be delivered to the end user, while an additional 7 percent of total traffic is generated between data centers through activities such as cloud-bursting, data replication and updates.

Following are the important features that i would like to highlight: Cloud will account for one-third of total data center traffic. Global cloudtraffic growing twice as fast as global data center traffic. Global data center traffic growth: a four-fold increase by 2015. Data center traffic sources: Most stays within the data center itself. Peak end-user activity more than 2.5 times average in 2015. Workload transition. Global cloud readiness. Benefits of cloud computing by 2015:Reduced Cost. Increased Storage. Flexibility. Mobility (Access anywhere). Elastic scalability and pay-as-you-go. Data Protection (Security). Global Market growth (grow at a 30% CAGR).

Problems of cloud computing by 2015. Software:Data traffic. Data Privacy. Data Security. Performance. Hardware:Faster Devices. Big Data Centers. Better Energy Efficiency. Speed of microprocessors

Intel速 Xeon速 Processor 5600 Series is the future of cloud computing. Better Energy Efficiency Performance Leadership Secure Virtualization

Cloud Computing is expected to become completely secure by 2015. Cloud backup. Cloud storage. Computer backup. Data storage. Desktop storage. File storage. Online backup. Online storage. PC backup. Windows backup. Future conclusions:Instead of Becoming 12-Fold in 2015, the future of cloud computing is secure. Problems, as stated above will be easily eradicated. New devices like Intel速 Xeon速 Processor 5600 would be launched to make the hardware more faster. Technologies would upgrade. Till 2015 10G will come. "Emerging Trends & Future Challenges for India to Develop As A Global Medical Destination"

Introduction Tourism is traveling for predominantly recreational or leisure purposes or the provision of services to support this leisure travel. There are two elements in tourism; the journey to the destination and the stay including activities at the destination; The journey and the stay take place outside the normal place of residence and work, so that tourism gives rise to activities, which are distinct from those of the resident and working populations of the places, through which tourists travel and in which they stay; The movement to destinations is of a temporary, short-term character, with intention to return within a few days, weeks or months. Tourists are people who "travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited". Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity. Tourism activity involves a complex mixture of material and psychological elements. Medical Tourism Medical tourism in India is an upcoming concept which includes both treatment as well as tourism. India is one of the countries that have deliberately set out to be a dominant medical tourism destination. Globalization has caused many countries to evaluate their economical strengths and weaknesses, as well as reassess products or services in which nations can benefit. One such product and service that has emerged over the past decade is medical tourism. Medical tourism involves the practice of citizens exercising their personal healthcare choices in less restrictive areas. It is the traveling by candidate service recipient's from one institution or country where treatment is not available to another institution or country where they can obtain medical services and innovative treatments they desire. SWOT of Indian Medical Tourism Strengths · Low cost of medical treatment - Prime India Medical Tourism Driver · Experienced & talented pool of Medical Professionals. · English is the most preferred language of communication in hospitals and medical centres · Strong Private Hospital Infrastructure · Government support in terms of incentives and long term stay in India · Familiarity of Western Patients with Indian Doctors. Weaknesses · India is lagging behind in the competitive market due to the lack of adequate budgetary support for promotion and marketing as compared to some of the competing destinations, including those in India's neighborhood. · Taxation norms related to tourism industry, imposition of service tax and fringe benefit tax. Opportunities: · Increasing number of health insurance plans will extend their networks to include selected health care institutions around the world and will provide incentives to encourage beneficiaries to use off shore facilities for expensive surgical procedures. · Modern well equipped hospitals in some areas of India serve the role of regional referral centre for patients from poor neighboring countries providing low cost services. · To provide for brighter prospects for the industry, the hospitals can also acquire international accreditation, integrate traditional and clinical treatments and offer end-to-end value added services by tying up with tour

operators, airline carriers and hotel companies. Hospitals can also allow foreign patients to pay through credit and ensure proper support services to foreign patients after they return to their native countries. · Government of India can also reinforce its support through quick visa processing, improved flight connectivity and infrastructure development. Challenges: · Selection of the best possible destination for the specific service poses a challenge to the medical tourist. · Safety of the patients or tourists visiting India. · Cultural and Psychological barriers of the hosts towards outsiders. · Government restrictions imposed on tourists. Recommendations · Initiative should be taken in creating a unique brand for Indian tourism which is vibrant and based on sustainable development. · Setting up hotels on the surplus land available in the vicinity of Airport Authority of India or near International Airports within the prescribed norms. · Developing effective marketing plans and strategies for sustainable development. · Market research should be conducted in the areas of tourism services and products, their pricing, security issues, safety and quality etc. · Usage of the various technological tools, including the internet, for advertising for greater and wider impact. · Further, encourage ecommerce portals to extend effective marketing support to small and medium enterprises and also offer competitive packages. · Publicity and materials used for promotional aspects should be made tax free.

路Tourism training should be imparted at the institutional level to create the awareness of new niche areas of tourism. Conclusion: In long run, medical tourism can become one of the niche areas for revenue generation as there is an increasing trend in the number of visitors coming to India for various treatments. Varsity of health care products in diversified areas renders multiple choices to the foreign tourists which can be one of the factors for capturing the larger market. Mission: Install values and life-skills to achieve success. Provide quality-based sport experiences and holistic development of student-athletes. Infuse equality, team spirit and harmony amongst everyone. Vision: Embrace the 6 core values of responsibility, respect, trustworthiness, fairness, caring and citizenship. Achieve excellence in sports. To provide adequate infrastructure facilities for sports and games so that students choose and participate in the events for which they have flair. To spot and groom the sports talent. To foster, better human relations through sports and games. To imbibe in the students discipline, leadership qualities, courage and the sense of belonging through sports activities. To train the students to receive success and defeat equanimously. The college sports department works in consultation with the sports committee comprising teachers and Physical Education Director, Mr. Kishor Pathare in ICCS. The sports committee plans sports schedule for each academic year. The college has a sports field for different games like Football, Volley ball and including a special Basket ball court. Indoor sports like Chess, Table tennis, etc. are equally encouraged.

The college has a healthy practice of giving priority to outstanding sport persons during admissions. Being a prestigious institution in the city, there is a great demand for admission under sports quota. An impressively large number of students took part in the various Inter-collegiate competitions which were organised by the Pune Dist. Sports Zone - Pune University. Many students have been selected for Inter-Zonal, Inter-University level competitions. We had some outstanding players like ANIKET JADHAV ( Basketball ) & ROSHAN POOJARI ( Boxing ) who have participated for the ALL INDIA UNIVERSITY competition and represented the UNIVERSITY OF PUNE. We also organised inter class competition in Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis and Chess for the promotion of mass participation of students in the field of sports. The main objective of this activity is that maximum students can participate in sports. It was also a great stress buster for students. Near about 200 students participated and performed well in sports. Not only students, but our Teaching & Non teaching staff members also participated and enjoyed the sports. Whenever and wherever we got an opportunity to participate in the various competitions we did not fail to show our students talent. Our students have participated in the various events and won the prizes listed below :

Debating Competition

5th Year of Late Shri. Shankarrao Wakalkar State Level Debating Competition 2012

DEBATING COMPETITION Late Shri. Shankarrao Wakalkar Debating Competition has entered into its successful fifth year. This event has emerged as a prestigious and grandly awaited competition for all the colleges in Maharashtra. It has enthrolled magnimus debators of students into the society. The seeds of debating skills are sown into the creativity cultivating minds of the young buds which will be seen as a huge tree in future. This is an attempt to provide thoughtful, inspired and creative minds to the larger social, educational and political ventures.

The judges for the competition were Prof. n R.M.Indi(Dean, Sinhgad Institute, Kondhwa) & Mr. Nitin Paregaonkar(a well known theatre artist and film personality). n Competition was inaugurated by hands of Prof. Yashwant Pathak in the august presence of Smt. This year, the topic for the competition was

' Social Networking - boon or curse'. Social networking - Can any one be aloof from this modern media? Let one be a student, teacher, businessman or entrepreneur, each one of us directly or indirectly is associated with some or few social networking sites. But though it seems surprisingly simple to use these sites, at the same time it is also venerable for its misuse. So what to do with this facility? This question which is put in front of each one of us- right from classroom to parliament, we put this question to the students. n Prof. (Dr.) Yashwant Pathak( Head, Sant Dnyandeo Adhyasan, University of Pune) was the chief guest for the Debate Competition.

Colleges like Fergusson, MIT College, Kaweri College, Y. B. Patil Polytechnic, College of Computer Science, Balaji College and Ranade Institute, various departments of Pune University Participated in the competition and made it a grand success. n

Gusto v6 Energy, enthusiasm and enjoyment- the three E's are the essence of the word Gusto. And nobody could fit better into these words than the Indiraites!!! For six years, Gusto- the flagship youth festival featuring various management, IT and cultural events, hosted by Indira college of Commerce and Science and the Indira College of Pharmacy, has served as the platform for interaction and learning to countless undergraduate students from the city of Pune and beyond. Brilliantly guided and organized by Mr. Prashant Kalshetti, HOD (BBA & BBM) and encouraged by Dr. Anjali KalkarPrincipal in-charge, Prof. Janardan Pawar- Viceprincipal and Mr. Vijay Rajopadhye - Registrar; Gusto has been making history year after year. This year was no exception. Aptly called Gusto V6, the sixth version of Gusto was centered about the theme Full Throttle- speed, excitement and thrill. Spanning three days from 8th to 10th Feb, Gusto V6 was a huge success in terms of attracting student masses from Pune as well as from other cities . Gusto V6 was flagged off amidst the presence of Dr. Tarita Shankar and Prof. Chetan Wakalkar who fired up the zeal of young Indiraites. The opening ceremony was followed by performances by children from the Bal Kalyan Sanstha (recreational center for specially-abled children) which brought tears into everyone's eyes. The association with the Sanstha was primarily to inculcate a spirit of responsibility among the youth and make them more sensitive to the lesser privileged.

With brain-wracking management events such as Bre-X-Elerate and Business quiz and the IT event Code Wizard, the first day of Gusto was truly a test of knowledge and wits. And there was also ‘Make your Own Superhero’ where anyone could bring alive their own superhero in a comic strip.

The biggest attraction of the first day was the newly introduced cycle race-Criterium which saw participation from professional cyclists. The crowd watched in awe as the cyclists zoomed around the campus one lap after the other to win the grand prizea bicycle worth INR 19,000. The second day saw participants showcasing the most innovative ideas in a bid to develop new products at Earn your worth, and portraying moments of a lifetime captured in the camera for everyone to see at the movie- making competition for budding directorsRolling Shutter. Then there was the Discuss League where the participants explored the various facets of every topic presented, and the Quiz IT presented in a very innovative and interesting manner. While Web Weaver was on to look for the best web designers, Set The Tuning was for all who had a taste for music with a hint of masala-for it was all about singing a song in the tune of the other- tricky isn't it? And that was not all. B-town maniacs had their share of fun at the Bollywood Quiz. The most exciting part of the second day was the stunt show Zip Zap Zoom which created waves in the crowd through some serious, nail-biting stunts which left the spectators gaping in disbelief.

The evening was no less exciting as rock bands performed on the arena at the State of Rock. There was not a single soul not affected by the strums of the guitar, the drum beats and the soulful vocals that took the audience to a world where music was the only truth.

On the final day, the management game Survival Crusade stood true to its name and reputation of being the toughest and wackiest challenge for all. Also, young brokers from all over Pune city had come to Commercio to test how good they were at 'money matters.' The stock trading game introduced for the very first time was a huge success owing to live feeds from the stock market itself.

The Nautanki Express was a hilarious show of parodies that were spiced up by the over-acting prowess of participants. The B- Boy Battle featured some extraordinary performances that made the audience go Hip-Hop. The day was eventful and the evening was as mystifying. The audience got High On Dance as performers bewitched the auditorium with stunning dance numbers that were entertaining and left a message as well.

And then there was La Bela- the fashion extravaganza where beautiful models and sculpted musclemen trotted the ramp in style to leave everyone awestruckas always. The cherry on the pie was Namit Das- Axe Ur Ex fame who was the celebrity judge for the fashion show. Everything from the outfits to makeup as well as the sequences were planned to match up to the themeCreativity. La Bela was not just about looks and haute couture, but also wits and wisdom where boys and girls fought for the coveted Gusto King and Queen titles.

The final day of Gusto was transformed into a carnival of ultimate frenzy when the DJ began to spin the records at the DJ night. Tiredness and aching muscles set aside, the ever-energized Indiraites couldn't help but groove to the music and let themselves go to the beats. Behind the three days of Gusto that went by was the dedication of hundreds of student committee members, who worked tirelessly for months on end. Their enthusiasm, unfazed by all obstacles big and small, was what helped to put up such a great show. The success of Gusto V6-Full throttle was a dream coming true as it was a tribute to all others like them- the youth of the nation. For the members of the core committee- Moulik, Vishesh, Reshmi, Debasis and Ruchita, Gusto wasn't merely an event to be organized and forgotten. For them it has been a part of their being, as it has been for all Indiraites. The journey that Pegasus- the mascot began six years ago has brought many lives together and given them memories of a lifetime. And it continues, for we know that this is not the end of it, it is just a milestone. For us, sky is the limit!!!

Earn and Learn Scheme The Main objective of the scheme is to develop a student as a multidimentional personality with academic excellence and a commitment to an egalitarian society. India lives in her villages and to bridge the gap between rural Bharat and urban India, this scheme is basically undertaken for the benefit of the students coming from the rural areas, which are economically backward, intelligent and meritorious but cannot afford higher education. It inculcates in the student the idea that no work is big or small and develops a work culture with the right attitude. It is now been announced by our Ex-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Narendra Jadhav that the scheme should be flexible to give work to those who demand it. This is a vision of keeping our youth gainfully employed as well as to contribute from civil society. This is a paradigm shift in the way we see higher education. This will make higher education accessible and available to the poor, meritorious and the marginalized. The scheme is at present being undertaken at the postgraduate level on the university campus as well as at the graduate level in the affiliated colleges and recognized institutions under the jurisdiction of the University of Pune. Financial assistance to the extent of fifty percent of the expenditure incurred by the affiliated Colleges / Institute is reimbursed to the concerned on submitting the necessary papers to the Director, Board of Students' Welfare. Under this scheme those students who are interested in joining are to fill the necessary application form, which is then scrutinized by an appropriate committee. The list of students who have been Finally enrolled in the scheme are to be sent to the Director, Board of Students' Welfare on or before 15th September every year, subject to the condition that the Colleges / Institution has been given permission to undertake the scheme. The students enrolled under the scheme are given the following types of work namely-that increase their skills in areas of their study, office work, technical work and field work. However when the distribution of work is given it is seen that all students get equal opportunity to get all different kinds of work and that each

student gets eighty percent of technical work and twenty percent of fieldwork. Office work includes working at the Library or any other office of the institute. Technical work includes: Knowledge of computers, office machines such as photocopying etc. or even working at a telephone booth, while field work includes working in the garden, looking after newly planted trees, play grounds, cleanliness of the campus etc. Each student is expected to work for three hours daily. Students working under this scheme are paid an honorarium of Rs.20 per hour as per the revised rates effective July 2007. Payment is made as per the attendance sheet, which is to be maintained by the institute/college/ university. The students are requested to open a bank account at their respective places and payments are made by cheques. At the end of the year the respective institute/college is requested to submit the annual accounts for the scheme when the central audit scheme is undertaken. As per the new decision taken by the university authorities all college /institutions would be given an advance payment depending on the enrollment of students. The ratio being as follows: 1 to 500 - Rs. 33,000 501 to 1000 - Rs. 55,000 1001 to 2000 - Rs. 1, 10,000 2001 to 3000 - Rs. 1, 65,000 3001 to 4000 - Rs. 2, 20,000 4001 to 5000 - Rs. 2, 75,000 And over 5001 - Rs. 3, 30,000 And that any student who fills the application form for enrollment in the scheme will be given work and an allocation of 3.5 Crores has been made in the current budget.
