Case Study

Smurfit Kappa is one of the leading providers of paper-based packaging solutions in the world, with around 45,000 employees in approximately 370 production sites across 34 countries. They are the #2 World market position for the production of corrugated packaging. They were in need of a new assembly room in their North American warehouse. This assembly room needed easy access for transportation of materials in and out.

Andrew Rodarte, an Indoff Material Handling Partner, had the knowledge and expertise to know that Panel Built’s products would be a great fit for this project. The undertaking was an incredible 52’ x 88’ interior assembly room with a number of unique features. The building is outfitted with two 12’x12’ framed openings for roll-up doors and two sections of 12’x12’ removable panels. These openings allow for the easy transportation of materials and equipment. The new structure also utilizes a custom composite panel, using a smooth FRP finish on the interior and a smooth vinyl covered gypsum on the outside. The inplant building has an overall panel height of 21’ and structural steel framing for support. Overall, the structure integrates a number of systems to create a fully custom assembly room to best fit Smurfit Kappa North America -ViTOP’s needs. Andrew was able to provide the consultative experience that was needed in order to know which product would be the best fit.
