The forum followed a full-day meeting of the interim board of directors to finalise directions for the association and identify key issues to assist the executive team. Ms Sewell said the selection of the inaugural CEO for the association was expected shortly. Industry observers at the forum agreed this would be a major political role as the timber and forest industries come to grips with resource security, plantations investment and the whole climate and carbon debate. More than 60 industry stakeholders gathered on the grounds of the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the historic meeting on July 20 to witness the baptism of AFPA, the lusty offspring of the NAFI and A3P merger. “We’ve come together as a team, no longer two-sided, and all wearing the same badge,” enthused AFPA transitional chair Linda Sewell.
