The Tank Storage and Logistics industry has had an extremely busy quarter with numerous acquisitions and mergers taking place, one of the most interesting for me being the Baker Hughes and GE Oil & Gas merger into BHGE which has created a company that will answer the needs of the up, mid and downstream oil and gas industry. We have seen Saudi Aramco sign a range of agreements that will see the company work more closely with US firms and European-based Alkion Terminals has seen exponential growth with a range of acquisitions taking place throughout 2017.
All this is great news for the future of the industry but what of its past? We have our youngest reader, eightyear-old Claudia Coles, to thank for the incite she has provided in the form a book she sent us called ‘The Story of Oil’. First printed in 1968 the educational publication was designed to inform children of the origins of oil and how it has grown to play such a major part in all our lives. The book has been passed round the entire Tank News International team and read with interest – it’s interesting to see just how much the industry has grown and progressed, yet how much the fundamentals of the industry has also stayed the same.
the US. In the Tank Container section, we learn about Eurotainer’s new identity and a Den Hartogh acquisition. In Road Tankers, Sutton’s new contract with BP is featured alongside an article about LNG truck loading in Singapore. In Shipping we feature news of a new LNG tank design from Kawasaki and LSC Shipmanagement’s new vessel. In Ports we feature news of German’s first LNG bunkering facility and in Rail we have news of the newly created Greenbrier-Astra Rail company.
In this edition of Tank News International we are featuring even more news than in the Summer edition including - In the Storage Terminal industry: HES Botlek Tank Terminal’s expansion, Vopak and AltaGas’ Canadian JV and Motiva’s growth plans in
