The team at Tank News International has come to the end of its first full year of producing printed editions for the tank storage and logistics industries, and what an exciting year it has been. The publication and its supporting website have gone from strength to strength and we have seen our readership grow by thousands over the past 12 months. We have also seen the number of events we attend hit the double figures with our anticipated event attendance being more

than 30 in 2018: GasTech and IP Week being just two of the new events we will be taking our advertisers and editorial submitters news and information to. When it comes to news and features, we have seen that grow accordingly. In this edition we feature even more exclusive interviews with industry leaders such as the Tank Storage Association’s Executive Director, Peter Davidson; Brenntag’s President of UK & Ireland, Russel Argo & COO, Brenntag UK & Ireland, Richard Ward and Contanda’s President and CEO, G.R. (Jerry) Cardillo. We are also delighted that our Market Focus feature has been submitted by Ellen Ruhotas of the Ratio Group. Also new to this edition are two regular columns from S&P Global Platts and Reynolds Training Services – we are honoured to have them both join us and look forward to quarterly columns featuring in Tank News International. News in this edition includes: In the Storage terminal industry we cover

news of Inter Terminals Seal Sands expansion and Shell selling a major stake in Woodside. In the Tank Container section, we feature an exclusive interview with the team behind TankContainerFinder.com. In Road Tankers, we cover Abbey Logistics’ new business focus. In Shipping we cover CRYO Shipping’s LNG transport service. In Ports we learn about plans to widen the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and in Rail we cover SAVVY’s work to equip 6,000 wagons. All this and much more sits alongside our regular features on New Products & Technologies, Roles & Responsibilities, Event Previews & Reviews and Company Profiles. We hope you enjoy the Winter edition of Tank News International.

IMO 2020 What does this mean for the Storage Industry?

In October 2016, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) announced a cut to sulphur limits for marine fuels worldwide from 3.5% to 0.5% starting from January 1, 2020.

T

his follows their drive, commenced in 2008, to limit global marine sulphur emissions in a stepwise approach after research was published which showed that particulate matter emitted from ships was responsible for 60,000 cardiopulmonary and lung cancer deaths annually. Here Ellen Ruhotas from the Ratio Group discusses just how these changes are set to affect the storage industry. From the early 19th century until the third quarter of the 20th century, steamships gradually eliminated sailing ships from
