AROUND TOWN

WORDS BY MATT TODD, THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF INDIANAPOLIS

Chocolate-dipped Ranch-hand Hats? How Howlingly Fun! From first responders and astronauts to social media stars and cowpokes, Halloween is full of creative costumes and memorable moments. Although the costume options are seemingly endless, one costume theme seems to stand the test of time: the cowboy and cowgirl.

Saddle up for a spook-tacular ride through the Frightful Frontier. Chaos ensues once you board the last train to Tombtown, where goblins and monsters roam the wicked west! There are AES Indiana’s Lights-On Hours for children (and their grown-ups) who scare easily along with AAA Insurance’s Frightening Hours for those who dare to be scared! From the Bony Express to the Witchi’Post, Not-So-Okay-Corral, Golden Nugget Mine and Boo Hill Cemetery to name just a few disturbing tourist destinations. Youngin’s and oldins’ alike will shake in their cowboy boots until the last grizzled ghost is gone. Don’t have too much fear — The Children’s Museum Guild’s witches are here. They will whip up a brew of great fun through Feasts with the Witches and the Sports Spooktacular.

This simple wild, wild Westthemed Halloween treat will help you get your littlest bronco ready for a Halloween hoedown of your own!
