A new season always brings changes. Some of them are big, some of them are subtle, and some of them are…. Both? For instance, the new logo mark. Because we have made the transition in steps, the update felt subtle and natural, even though it’s a pretty big feat! STARTS WITH AN IDEA

It can be a styling idea for the next jacket, or maybe a technical concept for a glove: thereâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s always a flow of ideas going on. Some come up during a ride, others come up while showering or walking the dog. Inspiration is everywhere. The ideas are translated into a quick sketch, of which there are many lying around at our design department.

If the concept is worth pursuing, it will be converted to a digital drawing. It shows all the panels, materials and parts that are going to be used, much like a blueprint. Then itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s time to add instructions and directions, so that the manufacturer can work his magic and turn it into something real.

SAMPLE IS BORN

It’s always exciting to see a new creation in the flesh! But many times, the first sample doesn’t look like the product you see in the stores: it can have temporary substitute parts, different colors, and other materials. But that’s okay, as the first sample gets tested, cut and resewn, and drawn upon to make steps towards an end product.

TIME TO

HITTHE ROAD! After a few samples, feedback and modifications, the product starts to look exactly as intended, and it’s about time to take it for a spin! Sometimes as a group, sometimes solo, but it always leads to insight and improvement. Though it’s not limited to only the new models: some older or current products are tested on the long run. And, admittedly, we also do it because we simply like a good ride! If all is well, we can give our green light to start production… and the result is in the pages in front of you.

RAINTEXDL

LIGHT AND DRY

Raintex DL will keep water out. Not only away from your shirt but completely outside the jacket. The breathable waterproof layer is laminated directly to the outer shell, leaving no space in between these layers to store water. Because only the outer shell gets wet, the jacket will dry fast and breathability remains intact. So what’s the difference with a conventional system? Well, these so called z-liner systems absorb water. It will pass through the non-waterproof outer shell and only get blocked by the waterproof layer inside. Water will get trapped in between layers, behind plastic protectors, and soak your liner……..your jacket will end up drenched! Furthermore, the breathability is no longer intact and you will feel cold because of water running down the membrane.

WHAT YOU OUGHT TO ABOUT

KNOW

ALL

MEMBRANES All membranes, no matter what brand or construction, will block water but can let water vapor through. But it will only do so under certain circumstances. Let’s forget about the differences in specs and quality of the membranes for a while and concentrate on the principle. The key word is difference. There will only be migration of vapors if there’s a difference. On one side it should be more than the other. The gas or vapor will want to go there where the least vapor is, until it is the same everywhere. The membrane however has no idea about front and back, so it can go both ways. Always keep in mind that there are circumstances and effects that could let the water go inside your gear instead of out. If it’s more humid and warm outside than inside your gear, vapor will be drawn in. This could also happen on your seat, where water remains, and temperature is higher. You might get the idea your gear is leaking, but in fact it’s just your membrane doing its job. Some examples: • Pants’ crotch appear to leak because the water is heated up on the seat creating a lot of vapor. It can hardly reach the open and it is dryer on the inside than outside your pants. Transport of vapor in the “wrong” way. • Gloves feel wet and cold, yet the water is outside the membrane. The water runs over the membrane almost directly over your skin, cooling the surface constantly. The same effect can also happen with jackets and pants. When it’s not very warm outside, it’s often better to keep the thermo liner in as well, to avoid the water cooling effect.

AQUA STOP Finally a proper substitute for zippers whenever 100% waterproofness is needed. It has no conventional zipper teeth and even seals an opening in a direct laminated jacket. __________________________________________ EST. 2014

VENTS

Getting slightly overheated? Then itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s time to start opening air vents. Either with a small zip to let air in or unveiling complete mesh panels, cool air can enter simply without much of a hassle.

VENTILATED

If the temperatures really exceed the normal summer values, a ventilation zipper with small opening just wonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t cut it. A fully vented jacket or pants will still keep you packed in safely and with all function you normally like, but it feels close to riding in a T-shirt. Large mesh ventilation panels placed at the most sufficient areas will let wind in and out without much resistance.

SUMMER COMFORT SYSTEM Experience a real win-wind situation with the Summer Comfort System. When the temperatures rise, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s a breeze to make your jacket cool. Simply zip off the front panel and let the unveiled mesh panel do the rest.

NIGHT EYE BY DAY

If jackets could have a split personality, they would probably look like this. Common grey by day, incredibly luminous at night: when placed in the range of a car’s headlights, it’ll light up completely! So how does this radiant fabric exactly work? Basically, it’s coated with lots of tiny beads. They act as satellite dishes, reflecting light back to its source, even from long distances. HOT VEST PREPARED Using thermo liners and special base layers, but still feeling cold? If your jacket has preparation for the Hot Vest, you’re in for a treat. The battery powered vest will provide heat at the most effective areas. KNEE SLIDERS A mix between good ergonomics, abrasion resistance and feeling with the tarmac. The TPU knee slider feels at home at the track (or at a nice twisty back road without too much traffic... we won’t tell), and was developed with the feedback of the pro’s.

As you’d imagine, working together with those riders is a good way to get useful feedback. And it’s showing throughout our products; for instance, you’ll find a lot of similarities between the new Voltage suit and the gear used by the MotoGP/WSBK riders

But our eyes are not fixed on the main classes alone: we’ve been scouting talent and promising riders in the feeder classes too. Young guys with a promising racing future ahead of them, proving themselves already in the CEV/ CIV Moto3 championship or the newly added WSS300 class.

Aquastop zippers The alternative for conventional water repellent zippers, yet 100% waterproof and reliable. Arm adjustment straps Width adjustment on the arms to keep the elbow protector in place. Backonnect A short connection zipper, fixed on an integrated Velcro panel on the inside of jeans, but removable when not needed. Backpocket Large storage pocket at the lower back of the jacket.
