quite some force and it is normal with some sound when the glue bond breaks. Be careful to not damage the speaker elements while doing this.

Remove the cloth front by carefully lifting it in the corners.

Once the entire front plate is released, lift it straight up.

Use a large Phillips screwdriver and unsrew the 12 screws marked with red in the picture above. The black metallic surface is a metallic plate that is glued onto the front. Use a table knife or something similar and push it under the black metallic front. Start at the bottom of the unit there any scratch in the plastic won’t be that visible.

Lift the center speaker element. If it is difficult to get hold of the center speaker element, turn the box carefully upside down so it falls out a little. Take a second knife and push it in between the first one. Use the knifes and bend carefully along the sides to break the glue bonding. This could require

Disconnect the center speaker wire by compressing the top of the connector close to the metallic box (see picture below) at the rear of the compartment and pull the connector straight out.

Pull the two other wires along the right edge of the metallic box as well.

Now you can pull the front out of the box.

At the inside of the top side, below the docking well, there is a white box fastened with 3 blank screws. Use a short Phillips screwdriver to unscrew these and you can now remove the white box that contains the docking PCB. Disconnect the wire from the PCB by pulling it straight out and remove the cupper foil from the metallic box (it is just glued). Lift the transparent tape from the bottom of the white box to release the cupper foil (it will be pulled through the opening when the PCB is lifted in the next step).

Pull the leftmost and rightmost cable along the top of the metallic box.

Once the glue has hardened, put everything back in the opposite order compared to how they were removed. When you put the connectors back for the left and right speaker, note that the right speaker is the connector in the middle and the left speaker is the connector at the top. The connectors along the top of the metallic box is a little bit tricky to get in correct position but with patience and good lightening it will eventually succeed.

This is the docking PCB. Remove it by cutting the white plastic “dots with a sharp knife or a side cutter. You can now lift the PCB straight up (if it is difficult you can use a table knife to pry it up).

Take the replacement PCB (shown above) and put hot glue, epoxy or something similar on the bottom of the PCB and push it in place into the white box and use the white pegs to position it correctly into the pre-made holes in the new PCB.

Take the grey collar around the iPod connector and put it over the iPod connector on the replacement PCB.
