It was to be a wartime supply route to Kingston and the Great Lakes, because the international boundary along the St. Lawrence River was vulnerable to attack. Rick Lapierre is one of those talented men who has had a variety of careers already. He went to General Vanier Secondary School in Cornwall and then apprenticed as a carpenter. His carpenter career lasted 22 years. Then he worked as a Locksmith part time at Hec’s Key shop and worked as a Loss Prevention Officer for 7 years at SCM.

From vinyl numbers, silk screens, and embroidery, Rick and his daughter Trista, the graphic artist, can make your artwork come alive!

Come into his store on Pitt Street just south of 13th on the west side and take alook at his sample wall and you will be pleased with quality of what he can do. He does not scan your artwork. It is done right. Rick also has the best price on skate sharpening.

Rick is married to Julie for 22 years now and together they have 2 daughters both in Kingston at school. Trista, 21, is almost finished her studies of Graphic Design, and Amber, 18, is in the Police Foundations program. Amber also plays hockey as a goalie in Kingston. Rick LOVES hockey and if he could, he’d live at a rink. He has always been interested in all sports. This love of hockey, soccer, lacrosse… was part of his inspiration to open Lapierre Sport 5 years ago. Amber, the goalie, was the other part of his reason to open the store.

Rick is enjoying his life and at this moment, he doesn’t think he’ll ever retire. He really enjoys meeting lots of people. Great customer service is his goal with each one. Skin Care Now is the time to start working on your skin. On your wedding day, you'll be having your picture taken close-up and many people getting close to your skin as they hug and kiss you. Even a relatively nice complexion can benefit from six months of stress-relief, proper nutrition, and added water-drinking.

First, start a good cleansing program. You should be using a multi-step system including a good cleanser appropriate for your skin-type

Examine how much water you drink daily. Drinking 8 to 10 glasses daily will help clear up blemishes and make your skin more luminous. Hair Start thinking about the overall health of your hair. You may want to start applying a deep conditioning treatment (available inexpensively at drugstores) once a week. If your hair is dry, consider changing to a moisturizing shampoo and/or shampooing less often. Makeup While some brides hire a professional makeup artist for their big day, it's certainly possible to do your own wedding day makeup as long as you take some time to practice. And even if you do hire someone for your wedding day, you also need to look your best for your bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, bachelorette party, and engagement photos. Most importantly, make sure you feel confident and radiant in your makeup look, so that you can truly be the blushing bride.

It doesn't seem very long ago that we were preparing our cars for winter. For those of you who hate winter, that may seem like a very long time ago! Spring has sprung in force along the Seaway Valley this week, and at last it's time to talk about something much more pleasant: preparing your car for spring! Here are a few things to keep in mind as you clean out your car while enjoying the warm spring breeze. Remove sand, salt and extra weight in the trunk. Last fall, some of you may have added extra weight in the trunk of your car to give it more traction or to use in emergencies. Now that we don't have to worry about black ice and snow, this extra weight will only serve to decrease your car mileage. If it's not a spare tire, get it out of the trunk! Wash off that salt! Especially from the undercarriage. It may be best to take your car through a quality drive through car wash for its first post-winter wash. Your car's undercarriage has undoubtedly accumulated untold layers of salt and grit that will eat away at the vehicle's vital organs if not removed.

Organize your car's interior to help keep it clean. There's a reason there's always garbage in our cars, and it's not ONLY because were usually too lazy to bring it inside and throw it away. Antifreeze and transmission fluids are often low after a winter season, oil is often dirty and snow clods may have damaged important wiring in the undercarriage. You can have all this taken care of again at your favourite garage. Enjoy the beautiful weather that spring has to offer, and safe driving!

Change those winter tires! Don't waste your super-sticky tire treads on dry pavement. Dig your car's summer tires out of your garage, throw them in the trunk and run them down to your favourite repair shop to make sure your winter tires keep their tread longer.
