WELCOME TO

at the Bulls/Sox Academy TRAVEL TEAM PL AY E R

Jim Adduci, Sr. is a former Major Leaguer, who has been with the Bulls/Sox Academy for over seventeen years and is currently the Director of Elite Baseball.

Jim Adduci Sr. is a product of Brother Rice High School on the Southwest side of Chicago. In 1977, Jim was drafted out of high school by the Philadelphia Phillies but opted to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. After completing his junior year at SIU, Adduci was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 7th round of the 1980 MLB amateur draft. He made his major league debut on September 12, 1983 with the Cardinals at age 24. Over the course of his professional career, Jim Sr. also played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies and in the Japanese Major Leagues for the Yokohama Tayio Whales. Jim Adduci is a member of the Southern Illinois University and Brother Rice HS Sports Hall of Fame.

Jim’s son, Jim Adduci Jr., is currently playing with the Texas Rangers.

Jim Adduci Jr. was originally selected out of Evergreen Park High School by the Florida Marlins in the 42nd round of the 2003 draft. Unlike his father, the younger Adduci decided to sign his professional baseball contract directly out of high school. Throughout the last 10 seasons with the Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers organizations, young Jim has been selected to 4 Minor League All-Star teams and has been a team MVP. Prior to making his Major League debut on September 1, 2013 with Texas, Jim was hitting .298/.381/.463 with 16 homers, 65 RBI and 32 stolen bases at Triple-A Round Rock. Jim singled on the first pitch he saw in the big leagues to record his first MLB hit. The lefthanded hitting outfielder has played 889 games over 10 seasons in the minor leagues and is a .284 lifetime hitter.

BASEBALL

DREAMS Although taking different routes to the big leagues, both Adducis eventually experienced all the successes and the adversities of playing professional baseball. Each navigated the journey of being very accomplished high school players, were recruited by numerous college programs, were drafted then signed by professional teams; Jim Sr. out of college and Jim Jr. out of high school. They had to make the tough decisions which inherently go with that type of success in the game; including: How do I become a standout high school player? How do I get the attention of college coaches or scouts? College scholarship vs. professional contract? If college, which scholarship offer to accept? If pro, should I accept or decline a signing bonus? How do I negotiate a bonus after the draft? What is the process of choosing the correct agent for legal representation? As players, each Adduci experienced the nuances of playing winter ball in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. 4

Individually, Jim Sr. has gained valuable experience of going through the decision making process as a player and as a parent. These experiences allow him to be a priceless resource for a current Elite player and his parents while training at the Academy. A common thread between both Adduci’s was a willingness and desire to become the best players they could be. It starts by professionally training in a systematic, progressive manner and that is exactly the type of skills training program Jim Sr. has developed at the Bulls/Sox Academy for the elite travel team player. The training or “skill sessions” were exclusively designed by Jim Adduci to maximize offensive and defensive baseball skills. As an essential developmental resource, sessions will include access to a comprehensive strength and conditioning program. Players will go through progressive workouts similar to those Jim’s son used when he was trained at the Academy as a teenager. ELITE TRAINING

Marty pitched in the Cleveland Indians organization and has had 25 former students pitch professionally. His trained eye can see things that most instructors cannot and his liberal use of high-speed video only adds to his mastery of mechanics. Marty is one of the best there is and look no further than his impressive list of current and former students as proof. Marty’s son, Kyle Kobernus, played at Elgin Community College and was a DuPage Valley All Conference selection. Kyle also pitched at Judson University, was Team MVP and voted All-Region and All-Conference. Kyle pitched professionally for Gary South Shore Railcats of the Independent Northern League and the Newark Bears of the Atlantic league.
