2023 Annual Conference Hooray for Hollywood
"Hooray for Hollywood" was written by Richard Whiting for the 1937 musical film Hollywood Hotel, paying ironic tribute to Tinseltown.
"Hooray for Hollywood, you may be homely in your neighborhood But if you think that you can be an actor, see Mr Factor He'll make a monkey look good Within a half an hour, you'll look like Tyrone Power Hooray for Hollywood"
The storytelling capital of the world has taught us that a great story can capture our hearts or inspire our imagination. Truly great stories can change our minds and change the world.
All of us are storytellers by nature. Through stories, we share our ideas, offers, and help. While most would agree that 'the best story wins,' this isn't the whole picture.
In truth, the best story accepted wins.
If all the world's a stage, you are a character telling a story You are always transacting in hopes that your story is accepted We're in Hollywood to learn the secrets to telling great stories and to hone the craft of getting them accepted

Sue Rhomberg, Vice Chair
Sue Rhomberg ’ s career as a legacy consultant, building on a foundation as an occupational therapist, developed out of capturing stories that celebrate life. Her own story includes two 4th generation family businesses that are 100+ years old. For over a decade, Sue has been studying transactional competence and the philosophy of transactionalism, which she is integrating into fundamental perspectives on legacy Sue resides in Oak Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago
The Institute of Transactional Philosophy is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to the continual development and education of applied transactional philosophy.
Our aim is to promote the philosophy of transactionalism through an applied inquiry that equips people to think and act together in facing the most pressing and significant issues confronting humanity today.
Our vision is to support the development, awareness, and application of the philosophy of transactionalism through a broad body of educational works and programs to inspire a worldview of cooperation, participation, and help.
The Institute of Transactional Philosophy offers resources that enhance the efforts of those who see a world where mutual concerns can be addressed through cooperation, participation, and the giving and receiving of help. When people and groups engage with one another, in ethical and respectful discourse, in an effort toward a satisfying human existence, the Institute fulfills its aim and mission.
We see a unique opportunity in the 21st Century to advance a broad global discourse through an applied inquiry that includes academia, government affairs, social and environmental institutions, the business professional community, as well as those in the general public, who seek to live good and satisfactory lives and inspire our global family toward a thriving and healthy planet.

Influential U is the commercial application of an entire body of work that is solidly grounded in the philosophy of transactionalism. The relationship between Influential U and the Institute is an important one While many philosophies shape how societies think, the intersection of philosophy and commerce is rare, if not altogether frowned upon by academia As such, the Institute is working to explore the philosophy unfettered by a concern for commerce, while Influential U devotes itself to teaching the world how to transact, together, with competence The research done through the Institute will continue to contribute to us all

Ethics: The Condition of our
Character
Ethics is a linguistic Condition of Life. Ethics are always set in a social environment.
A person alone on an island has little use for such a code of conduct because no other person is impacted or affected by their behavior.
Ethics becomes a concern for people who have satisfied their biological needs and Conditions of Life. For a starving person, ethics, like their social standing, is quickly pushed aside as their consideration of stealing food versus dying becomes a reality. Suffering the consequence of breaking the law or going to hell are linguistic concerns that are often overshadowed by the foremost concern for living or dying. A starving person is less likely to be concerned about ethics in the same way as those of us who rely on and understand our need for and reliance on the help of others
Reputation and self-esteem depend on our ability to produce powerful narratives in the minds of those we care about and intend a future. Building and expanding trust is primarily a concern for being known as a person who can be counted on and is accountable to keep commitments and do so in a way that is acceptable to the social norms and proper conduct of an adult
Ethics is the condition of our character.
What correlations might you begin to make about this and the character in a story?

What is an Ambitious Adult?
What is your Character doing?
What is their Activity?
What is the Environment?
Ambitious Adults make plans and move strategically and tactically to satisfy their Conditions of Life.
They make and get invitations, offers, commitments, and requests and articulate consequences, judgments, assessments, and assertions that when accepted give them the best opportunities to satisfy the unavoidable Conditions of Life.
They accept the constraints of the environment and do not argue with or deny the biological, linguistic, and transactional facticity of human life and in fact, utilize their specialized knowledge of it to produce consequential environments that have others comply.
They know their limits, liabilities, and assets Ambitious Adults respond to opportunities.

What does it mean to "behave transactionally?"
Personality & Transactional Behavior™
Each Transactional Behavior™ demonstrates assets, liabilities, and behaviors that can accelerate transactions or grind them to a halt.
Understanding and identifying the Personality Characteristics offers you the opportunity to speed up and produce low-cost, high-value transactions.
Team Storytelling Game Rules of the Game
This game will be revealed during the conference. While we may have a love-hate relationship with team games, Influential U is famous for interactive experiences that help us truly know what it means to transact powerfully.
Instructions and Game Rules will be offered during the Conference.
There will be in-person and zoom team leaders and team selection - none of which can be configured in advance. We recommend you chill until that time.
