Deeply rooted, local Leadership

Village Green Realty was founded in 1991 by Joan Lonergan, a native of Ulster County. As a young real estate agent Joan saw other agents turning away business because they were waiting on a “big fish”. She glimpsed an opening in the market for someone who was willing to work with everyone; whether they were looking for a luxury property or a small parcel of land. Joan struck out on her own, opening an office on the green in Woodstock and becoming one of the few female real estate brokers in the area at the time. What Joan began has grown to 8 offices, 132 agents, and 20 support staff who serve 8 counties. Joan wasn’t just willing to work with everyone, she also believed all her clients deserved the same level of service. In 2001 Joan became a Coldwell Banker affiliate as a way to serve Village Green’s listing clients. In the early 2000s, as Village Green began to expand geographically, Joan began to search for a partner who would continue her legacy of female leadership and grow the company’s services and sales without losing sight of the original vision. A MESSAGE FROM CANDIDA ELLIS

I came to this country from England as a teenager to attend high school in New York City.

I completely fell in love with the city and after moving to Palm Beach and working as a corporate aircraft broker and living in Los Angeles for some years, I found my way home to NYC in the mid-’90s.

I was lucky enough to purchase a little Victorian home in Kingston as a weekender in 1998, and after the tragic events of September the 11th, I decided to take a leap of faith, as so many have, and move to the Hudson Valley permanently.

Twenty years later, I still marvel every single, solitary day at the beauty, diversity, culture and amazing lifestyle here.

As luck would have it, Joan and I met, and I began working for Village Green Realty in 2006. Fast forward…a perfect partnership grew! Together we have a fantastic time every day growing our business. Joan and I share a simple philosophy: integrity, unparalleled service to our clients, and straight-forward business practices. Ordering your package in our office software (The Wizard) takes a few clicks and activates the marketing team to start working on your listing’s visual assets. The team will reach out to you to schedule a shoot, visit your listing and edit your photos; then they’ll deliver everything to you in The Wizard within 72 hours of the shoot.
